ABC Picks Up Supermarket Sweep Revival

Leslie Jones will host the revival of the classic 90s game show.

Get ready to run wild in the aisles again. ABC has announced it is bringing back the classic game show Supermarket Sweep hosted and executive produced by actress and comedienne Leslie Jones. Three teams of two will battle it out using their grocery shopping skills and knowledge of merchandise to win big cash prizes. Production on the ten episode order begins this spring.

“I’ve always dreamed of being on ‘Supermarket Sweep,’” said Leslie Jones. “Seriously, I tried out for the show years ago; and after getting turned away, I knew I’d have to take matters into my own hands. Being able to bring the iconic game show back to life on ABC is my ultimate redemption story!”

Supermarket Sweep originally ran from 1965 to 1967 on ABC. It was revived in 1990 for Lifetime, which you’re probably more familiar with. This version ran until 1995 and then from 2000 to 2003.
