The Chase is officially on.  GSN has announced the debut date of the new quiz show based off the popular daily ITV game.  The Chase will launch Tuesday, August 6th, at 9:00PM ET.  Its lead-in will be Minute to Win It hosted by Apolo Ohno.  Two new episodes will air each Tuesday.  Hosted by Brooke Burns (Dog Eat Dog), each episode sees a team of three face off against Mark "The Beast" Labbett in a quiz race to win tens of thousands of dollars...if not six figures.  The Beast will be hunting them down every step of the way.  Each show culminates in The Final Chase where it's all or nothing for the entire bank.  Click here to learn more and to see an all new picture of Brooke and the Beast.

“The Price is Right” and Ben Bailey Win Daytime Emmy Awards

Last night Hollywood gathered to celebrate the best in daytime television with the 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.  Hosted by Robin Meade, Sam Champion, and A.J. Hammer, saw game shows honored in full force.  First, genre legends Monty Hall and Bob Stewart were presented Lifetime Achievement Awards so congratulations to them.  We could go on about why they deserve it so much but I think that's self explanatory.  The awards did offer a few surprises, though.  Click here to read more and let us know what you think about the winners (and who should have won).

Farewell to Meredith Vieira: Sam Murray Thumbnail

Farewell to Meredith Vieira: Sam Murray

Because I was away for a while we didn't get to do as much of the farewell to Meredith Vieira as we'd have liked to, so we're making up for that.  We're going to look back at some of the more memorable contestants during her run as host of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Don't forget, though, that Cedric the Entertainer kicks off his run as the new host this September.  Of course the people at the top of the list will always be the winners.  Let's take a look back at the last winner, the Tournament of Ten champion Sam Murray.  Sam was the only person to take the risk and answer the million dollar question, and it paid off big time.  Click here to read more, watch the confetti fall, and let us know what you think.

Tasha Trujillo Wins $100,000 on “Wheel of Fortune”

Not too long ago Wheel of Fortune gave away its $1,000,000 jackpot for the first time in five years.  However, the season's not over and there's still big money to be won.  The confetti dropped again this week and it, unfortunately, mostly flew under the radar, being overshadowed by the million and the winding down of the season. Tasha Trujillo, an assistant manager at U.S. Bank in Palm Desert, won the major $100,000 prize in the bonus round on Tuesday's edition.  Tasha left with a grand total of $110,850 in cash and prizes.  With the luck of some excellent letter calling in the bonus round, Tasha correctly solved the puzzle "COMPLETE OVERHAUL" to reveal the $100,000 envelope. Click here to learn more. Update: watch the big win inside!

First Look: Set and Logo of GSN’s “The Chase”

GSN's adaptation of The Chase has wrapped up and the reviews have been pretty glowing.  Beyond the usual first episode jitters, which every show has, rave reviews came in for Mark Labbett, host Brooke Burns, and the game itself.  Glad to hear they did it well.  While we wait to see footage and see how audiences will react to the format, GSN has emailed us a teaser.  We're very happy to show you the first look at the set and logo for the new quiz show.  We're also very happy to say we have eight of the 24 contestants the series will see coming straight from here.  We love when you represent us well so we can't wait to see how you do.  Click here to check it out and let us know what you think.

Review: ABC’s “Whodunnit?” Good, Bloody Fun Thumbnail

Review: ABC’s “Whodunnit?” Good, Bloody Fun

No network loves crime-based game shows more than ABC.  We've had BuzzerBlog-favorites The Mole (twice ) andTake The Money and Run.  ABC is jumping back onto this train with its new game Whodunnit?.  The series, which debuts Sunday, June 23th, at 9:00PM ET, takes some of The Mole, mixes in some CSI-style investigations, and adds a massive layer of story telling.  I've read some fears from other critics wondering if Whodunnit? would be more like The Mole from the early 2000s or late 2000s.  You'll be happy to know it's more along the lines of the classic series.  It's fun, suspenseful, the play-along elements are shockingly huge, and it leaves you guessing at every turn.  Click here to read our review, find out why you'll like the show, and to see some new pictures.

Reminder: Meredith Vieira’s Final New “Millionaire” Airs Today

Today is the end of an era.  Be sure to watch Who Wants to be a Millionaire today if you can (you should be watching it anyway).  This is the final new episode featuring host Meredith Vieira.  She's given away over $75,000,000, has awarded that to over 3,200 contestants during the course of 2,000 episodes, and today, for the final time, she'll take her place at the million dollar table hoping to give away life-changing money to lucky contestants.  While we're very sad to see her go, don't forget that the show continues this September with new host Cedric the Entertainer.  We'll hope you watch.  But we also hope you'll tune in today for Meredith's final day.  Thank you, Meredith, for the decade of laughs, thrills, and fun.

Video: Think Twice Before Saying “Final Answer”

Even during Meredith Vieira's last week as host of Who Wants to be a Millionaire we're still getting moments with her that we'll remember for a while.  Every contestant's nightmare is to blow it on an early question.  A very select group of people have missed the first question either due to not knowing the answer and guessing, misremembering, or just rushing through the game and not realizing what you said until you say "Final Answer."  That's what happened yesterday, and it's probably going to haunt this guy for a long, long time.  Click here to take a look.
