Weekend Replay: Another £250,000 Win from “Deal or No Deal?”

We have a double dose of Weekend Replay for you today. Our first moment comes from last Wednesday’s episode of Deal or No Deal. It was Love Week in the Dream Factory as players competed from Love HQ in the hopes of winning a holiday and some big money. Since Box 23 made its inception to the game in 2014, there have been moments where the box saved dismissal games, but for some, left them with nothing. In this episode, contestant Roop Singh goes after the possibility of winning £500,000. It’s a game you have to watch from beginning to end. You won’t be disappointed, and you’ll leave in shock and awe. Click here to watch the episode.

Weekend Replay: Box 23 on “Deal or No Deal”

Earlier this week we discussed Deal or No Deal's newest feature, Box 23.  The Channel 4 game, hosted by Noel Edmunds, recently introduced a 23rd box which a player can buy at the end of the game with his or her winnings.  If they buy it, they stand a one-in-five chance of doubling their money.  However, they have the same odds to leave with nothing.  They are now putting £500,000 on the line.  Box 23 was introduced on Wednesday's episode.  If you missed it, check out the reveal and the first playing.  Would you have bought Box 23 in this situation?  Click here to watch Let us know what you think in the comments.

“Deal or No Deal” Introduces Box 23

On the first day of 2014, Channel 4’s Deal or No Deal introduced an extra twist to the game, in addition to a brand new set. The Banker’s mother decided to give her son a present for the new year. Up to this point, all players faced 22 boxes in The Dream Factory for a shot at £250,000. That is not the case in 2014. Even though the conventional game play still exists, this added element is going to make decisions not only harder for the player, but for The Banker to make more strategic offers. Click here to read a special message from The Banker's mother.

Best of 2013: We Remember What a Million Dollar Question Looks Like Thumbnail

Best of 2013: We Remember What a Million Dollar Question Looks Like

Our relationship with Who Wants to be a Millionaire here is interesting.  I love the show, I love Meredith Vieira and think Cedric the Entertainer is doing fine, and I love the current format now in its fourth season.  However, it's generous to say we were becoming restless waiting for someone to win the million, let alone reach the question.  It's more accurate to say we were pulling our hair out screaming nearly every year and losing the will to care each new season.  We've been over ten years since a winner.  We haven't even seen an actual million dollar question on the daytime version since 2007.  Finally, 2013 was the year this streak was broken and it was done spectacularly.  Click here to watch the big moments and let us know what you think.

Best of 2013: “Whodunnit?”

We've been away so much this year we couldn't do a full countdown.  We'll save that for our tenth anniversary in April.  However, we do want to touch on a few favorite moments and shows.  We're going to start with an awfully inventive, fun, and suspenseful game show which deserved way more attention than it got: Whodunnit?.  If you don't remember it or didn't watch it, guests were invited into Rue Manor to play a real-life CSI game, solving fake murders to be the sole survivor and win up to $250,000.  This sort of game has been done often, and especially on ABC with programs like The Mole and Take The Money and Run.  The theming and story is what made this show stand out the most, though.  Click here to watch a clip, reminisce about the show, and let us know what you thought of it.

Video: Sheree Heil Wins Biggest Prize in Daytime “The Price is Right” History

Monday was pretty exciting for game shows all over the world.  We already discussed Deal or No Deal.  In America, The Price is Right gave us the biggest thrill of the day.  Today was a special "Best of 2013" special.  The Drew Carey-hosted show looked back to some of the year's best moments and prizes.  One game on Monday's episode will stand out for genre fans for a while.  In honor of the popular "Dream Car Week", contestant Sheree Heil from Tacoma, Washington, played "Gas Money" for a $150,000+ car.  The game isn't easy to win, but Sheree managed to beat the odds in an awfully difficult setup to win the $157,000 car plus an extra $10,000 in cash. Did you miss today's record-breaking episode?  Take a look at Sheree's crowning moment as the biggest winner in daytime Price by clicking here.  What did you think?  Pretty exciting, right?

Rumor Control: Box 23 Being Added to “Deal or No Deal”? Thumbnail

Rumor Control: Box 23 Being Added to “Deal or No Deal”?

Hey, we're back.  And we're back with a very interesting story you'll basically only find here.  Deal or No Deal, Channel 4's long-running game show, launched a new run of episodes today with some relatively big changes.  For now most are visual.  For the first time, the Dream Factory (the set) has nearly a whole new look.  The new studio is much larger with a new backdrop, they're shortened the opening, added a stats board, and launched a new introduction.  They've also added lights on the Wing desks which let the players vote Deal or No Deal.   A new gameplay mechanism is coming soon, too.  Deal is teasing it will begin on January 1st.  However, an eagle-eyed viewer (and our good friend/writer Bob Hagh) may have spotted it early. Click here to see what it is and read more. Let us know what you think this could be.

Travis Penery

Coming out of brief somewhat-retirement today to share very sad news.  Our good friend, BuzzerBlog contributor, and someone I considered a personal friend, Travis Penery, passed away today at the age of 29.  Earlier last week Travis suffered a stroke.  He passed away this morning.  We really can't begin to describe how distraught we are about this.  Beyond being a fantastic writer and contributor he was just a pleasure to talk to and it was a true honor to have him be "one of us" and a personal friend.  Our thoughts are with his family in this incredibly tough time. Update: Remotely personal memory of Travis.  Every Christmas Travis sent me a Christmas card with DVDs of new game shows from around the world I can't see.  He's the reason w
