2013 “Jeopardy!” Teen Tournament to Kick Off This Wednesday
One of the earliest-established tournaments on Jeopardy! will be making its return this Wednesday. Starting on January 30th and concluding on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, the 28th iteration of the Jeopardy! Teen Tournament will show off some of the brightest teenagers in the United States. Every contestant qualified via the Online Test and passed an in-person audition. The tournament follows standard Jeopardy! procedure: Five quarterfinalists advance to the next round along with the four highest-scoring non-winners as Wild Card entrants. The winning semifinalists advance to a two-day “total point” finals situation. All contestants are guaranteed $5,000, with semifinalists receiving $10,000. Third place receives $15,000 (or their two-day final total, whichever is higher), second place receives $25,000 (or their two-day final total, whichever is higher) and the winner of the tournament takes home a minimum of $75,000. We have an alphabetical listing of this year’s participants. Take a look:

A very interesting selection this year, with a fifth of a field coming from Georgia and a couple other states getting multiple representatives. The Teen Tournament often produces exciting matches and often, high scoring finishes. Tune in starting tomorrow for all the action.

The top prize is still $75,000? I figured after last year’s Teen Tournament, they’d raise it, but I guess not. Maybe it’ll be $100,000 next year.
I wonder…
Why is it that all Jeopardy! tournaments these days are starting on a Tuesday or Wednesday instead of the usual Monday?
Likely so the finals will air on a more watched Monday and Tuesday instead of ending on Thursday and Friday.
With the Presidential Speech we will all miss the final. Sometimes they show it at 1 or 2AM the next morning. Nope, don’t see it. Anybody know?????
Karen, I was just searching for the answer. The breaking news in California plus the President’s speech meant no Jeopardy on the West Coast, as far as I could tell. Bummer.
