Match Game Returns to ABC with Martin Short as Host
The comedy game show will tape this summer in Montreal, Canada.
As we reported on a few weeks ago, ABC has officially announced today that Match Game is being revived, with new host Martin Short. A shift from the last production, the show will be filmed in Montreal, Canada this summer.
Alycia Rossiter, who has exec produced series including ABC’s Generation Gap and Supermarket Sweep, will serve as executive producer alongside Short.
According to Deadline Hollywood, “Sarah Jessica Parker had been in talks to be involved in the reboot of the show but a deal wasn’t closed.” Martin Short isn’t particularly well known for his game show acumen—he played a game show host on John Mulaney’s eponymous sitcom failure on Fox in 2014, and appeared on an episode of Celebrity Jeopardy! in 2006; other than that, Short has been active in theater, television and film since the 1970s.
Well, he’s been on Half Wits, I’m sure that counts.
