“Jeopardy!” Looking for Former “Tournament of Champions” Competitors

We're very lucky to have a large group of readers who were champions on various shows around the world.  Are you someone who competed in a Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions?  The show is looking for you.  No details have been released yet but Jeopardy! sent out a call for anyone who played for the title.  They are asking for your name as you originally appeared, your primary email address, phone number, and the original air dates of your matches.  Click here to email, or click here to visit the show's page where the search comes from.  They'll get ahold of you as soon as they can after.  Again, there's no positive indication as to what this is specifically for, but next year is Jeopardy!'s 30th anniversary.  It sounds like they have something coming up.  If you competed, be sure to contact them.

First Look: “Family Feud” Updates Set for Season 15

While we were away there were a few interesting pieces of news we'll update you on in case you missed it.  One item of note to start the day belongs to Family Feud.  As they do every year, the Steve Harvey-hosted syndicated game has updated its set for the new season.  Last year, season 14, saw Feud enter HD for the first time with some high def-friendly updates.  They're continuing that modification this season.  Click here to take a look.

Nominate Your Favorite “Millionaire” Moments As We Say Goodbye to Meredith Vieira

As it stands, Meredith Vieira's final new episode of Who Wants to be a Millionaire will air on May 31st.  Meredith has hosted the show for eleven seasons, close to 2,000 episodes, won two Emmy Awards, and has awarded thousands of contestants nearly $80,000,000.  Meredith's contribution to the success of the format cannot be discussed enough.  The show requires just the right host.  If they didn't get it, it wouldn't have succeeded this long.  Meredith was a perfect fit and will be missed.  Throughout her eleven seasons we've had hundreds of moments that are hard to forget.  As we approach her final episode and the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the show, we want to showcase some of the best and most memorable moments of Millionaire under Meredith's reign.  We're coming to you to ask for the most memorable for a countdown we'll begin later this month.  Click here to vote for your favorite moment.  Let us know of literally any moment you find memorable.

The syndicated game show Let's Ask America, voted as the best new game show of 2012, has a few special editions to look forward to.  Host Kevin Pereira will welcome mothers and former contestants over the next two weeks for a shot at $50,000...all over Skype at home. On Friday, May 10th, Let's Ask America will host a special "Mother's Day" episode. Then, during the week of May 13th, Let's Ask America will bring back losing contestants for a "Second Chance" week. “Millionaire” Donates to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals; Kathy Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb Play Friday

All week, starting Monday, May 6th, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals will be benefitting by smart and brave Who Wants to be a Millionaire contestants and celebrities.  Starting today, for any contestant that makes it into Round Two (Classic Millionaire) the show will donate $10,000 to the charity.  Last week we saw the fifth $250,000 winner of the season.  Can anyone else make it that high?  Watch out on Friday, though.  The Today Show hosts Kathy Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb will stand at the table with host Meredith Vieira, hoping to take home $1,000,000 for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Debora Gossett Rivers Wins Disney Vacation and $250,000 on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”

Amazingly, and despite all odds, we somehow had another $250,000 winner this season on Who Wants to be a Millionaire.  Debora Gossett Rivers, a caseworker from Philadelphia, PA, took away the quarter million dollar prize on yesterday's episode.  Debora became the fifth person during the 2012-2013 season to win it, tying the record for the most quarter million dollar wins-per-season ever dating back to the first season.  Not only that, Debora became the season's biggest winner by picking up a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort during "Magical Family Getaway Week," where one Round One question has the vacation attached.  What made Debora's run so exciting?  She, literally, guessed her way through Classic Millionaire to claim the giant prize. “Millionaire” Gives Away Big Money and Disney Trips on “Magical Family Getaway Week”

All this week on Who Wants to be a Millionaire not only do contestants have a shot at winning a million dollars, but you and them have a shot at winning a trip to the New Fantasyland at the Walt Disney World Resort.  Starting today, April 29th, is "Magical Family Getaway Week."  One of the questions during Round One will randomly have a Disney vacation attached to it.  If they get it right then they get the vacation no matter what, plus the money behind the question.  Home viewers can enter to win a "Magical Family Getaway" of their own by visiting Millionaire's website once a day and entering the sweepstakes.  The winner will receive a four-night, five-day Walt Disney World Resort vacation. There are a few exciting things coming up on the syndicated game show Let's Ask America over the next several weeks.  First, this Thursday, April 25th, the Kevin Pereira-hosted survey quiz will present a third "Meteorologists" special. Four meteorologists from all across the country will all compete for $50,000 for charity. Jeff Ellingson Wins $100,000 on “Wheel of Fortune”

Tuesday was a big money day for game shows.  In addition to the quarter million won on Millionaire yesterday, the confetti dropped on Wheel of Fortune. Jeff Ellingson, originally from Fargo but now living in Los Angeles, took away $100,000 from the long running syndicated game show on April 2nd.  Jeff won the game with$16,830.  He then correctly solved the bonus puzzle "A PAUSE IN THE ACTION" to take home the hundred grand.  Jeff left with a total of $116,830.  He is the third person this season to spin and win the $100,000 envelope.  Congratulations.  Hopefully we'll see another (or maybe a millionaire?) before the end of the season. “General Hospital” Stars Finola Hughes and Jason Thompson Win $250,000 on “Millionaire”

One of Who Wants to be a Millionaire's biggest prizes was won yet again on yesterday's show.  During a special celebrity edition, General Hospital stars Finola Hughes and Jason Thompson won a big $250,000 for their charity The Art of Elysium.  They finished Monday's show with a bank of $67,600 and two Lifelines remaining: Ask the Audience and Jump the Question.  In a rare occurrence the audience actually helped the duo secure the $250,000.  Not wanting to risk losing $225,000 in the gamble for half a million dollars, Jason and Finola decided to walk with the quarter million.  Jason and Finola are the fourth people this season to win $250,000 and the second celebrity team to do it in this Super Mix format. “Let’s Ask America” Officially Renewed for Second Season

We've got some good news to start this morning and it's not an April Fool's Day joke.  The syndicated game show Let's Ask America has officially been renewed for a second season.  There were previously conflicting reports where we weren't completely sure if it was or not, but it's become official this morning.  Let's Ask America, which BuzzerBlog readers voted as the "Best New Game Show of 2012," airs daily on Scripps networks across the country.  Each episode sees contestants, who are playing at home via Skype, answer survey questions to win up to $50,000.  The Kevin Pereira-hosted game currently airs on eight Scripps-owned stations.  This Fall it will expand to two more markets: Detroit and West Palm Beach.  All 13 Scripps markets air the weekend edition. Soap fans and game show fans come together on April 1st and 2nd.  Who Wants to be a Millionaire will welcome General Hospital stars Finola Hughes and Jason Thompson to celebrate 50 years of the long-running soap.  The two soap stars will step up to the million dollar table, with host Meredith Vieira, hoping to win big for charity, The Art of Elysium. The biggest General Hospital fans were able to sit in the audience to see how their favorite celebrities could do.  However, they're also in for a special visit by another General Hosptail fan favorite. But, of course, most of you will be watching to see them win big money.  You won't be disappointed.  It looks like we've got another giant win ahead of us. Confirmed: Cedric the Entertainer Named New Host of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

We've got another big news confirmation this morning.  Disney-ABC Domestic Television has confirmed that popular comedian and film and television actor Cedric "The Entertainer" has been named the new host of Who Wants to be a Millionaire.  Cedric will join the show's 12th season this upcoming Fall.  The previous eleven seasons were hosted by Meredith Vieira who retired from the long-running syndicated quizzer in January.  Click here to read more about Cedric and the upcoming season of Millionaire.

Rumor Control: Anderson Cooper and Matt Lauer on Short List as Next “Jeopardy” Host

Interesting report from New York Post this morning.  Alex Trebek's Jeopardy! contact will expire in 2016 and the then-76-year-old host is not expected to sign an extension.  Sony has, allegedly, been feeling out various personalities to take over the reigns of the long-running syndicated quiz show.  So far the two front running names are both news personalities.  It is being reported that Today host Matt Lauer is currently at the top of the list.
