Weekend Replay: Big Money on Dutch “Deal or No Deal”

We haven't taken a look at a show abroad in a while.  Let's visit the Netherlands and their version, the original version, of Deal or No Deal.  It's been on the air since 2000 and it's still going strong.  They found the formula to make it work: make it a big event show, make the money huge (but still never give away anything out of the ordinary), and air it only a few times a year to make people watch.  It's why, even though I can barely understand what they are saying, it's hard to not get wrapped up in the fun and drama. This clip is from last weekend's episode. You don't need to understand Dutch to feel the emotional pain you're about to go through. Click here to watch and let us know what you think of this version of the show.

Video: Painful Overbid on “Price is Right” Showcase

Yesterday's episode of The Price is Right generated an interesting ending.  Contestant Mitchell won his way on stage at the last possible moment and played Ten Chances for a new car.  Unfortunately he couldn't get through the game and ended up with a portable heater and a camera.  He made it to the Showcase which consisted of a Sony Xperia phone with one year service, a trip to Key Largo, and a Chevy Spark.  Mitchell settled on a bid of $23,320.  You wouldn't believe how close he got. Cassidy Schlitz Wins $100,000 on “The Price is Right”; Second Highest Daytime Winner Thumbnail

Cassidy Schlitz Wins $100,000 on “The Price is Right”; Second Highest Daytime Winner

This week's Big Money Week on The Price is Right kicked off just about as large as possible.  Contestant Cassidy Schlitz was lucky enough to make it on stage to play the pricing game Half Off, the day's "Big Money" game, for $100,000.  Its usual prize is $10,000.  Sixteen boxes are presented to Cassidy.  One has $100,000 and the rest have nothing.  She must select the correct box to win.  Cassidy was lucky enough to correctly identify the price of three prizes and narrow her odds from 1/16 to 1/2 (each correct prize guess removes half of the boxes).  Left with boxes 5 and 14, Cassidy chose 5, opened the lid, and saw $100,000 in cash sitting inside.  Click here to learn more and see the big win.

Video: You May Really Want to Watch “Millionaire” Next Week

The new season of Who Wants to be a Millionaire has been going on for a bit and it's been a pretty smooth transition over to Cedric the Entertainer as host.  He's got the first-week jitters as anyone does, but let's wait to see how the episodes he tapes a few weeks down the line go.  The reception has been positive, though, so that's encouraging.  However, people don't watch for a host.  They watch for big money moments.  They watch so people can get to Round 2 and play for $100,000; $250,000; $500,000; or maybe see the infamous $1,000,000 question.  Millionaire is teasing a moment that will be going on this week.  You may really want to watch.  No spoilers until inside the story, so watch at your own risk. Kam Perez Wins “Whodunnit?” and $250,000; Cris Crotz Revealed as The Killer

If you didn't get to see last night's Whodunnit? season finale on ABC, you missed what will go down as one of the best episodes of a reality game ever produced.  First, congratulations are in store.  Congratulations to Kam Perez who beat the competition and took home the $250,000.  Kam solved the finale's puzzles before the other innocent competitor, Lindsey Anderson, and left Rue Manor with a quarter of a million dollars.  The Killer was revealed to be beauty queen Cris Crotz.  She left subtle hints throughout the series which were revealed at the end, buts hats off to her.  I didn't think it was her.  I still thought it was Lindsey Anderson who, unfortunately met her demise at the last minute by solving the puzzle last.  Click here to watch the big reveal, read a recap, and read our thoughts on this amazing game show.

Paddy Roberts Becomes First Male £250,000 Winner on “Deal or No Deal” Thumbnail

Paddy Roberts Becomes First Male £250,000 Winner on “Deal or No Deal”

There's nothing better than a game show jackpot win, and that was proven yet again yesterday on Channel 4's Deal or No Deal.  For the sixth time in eight years the confetti fell.  Paddy Roberts, and 18 year old sandwich shop assistant from Wigan, became Deal or No Deal's first male £250,000 winner.  Though the other winners have been around the same age, Paddy is the first guy to do it.  His board left him in the advantageous position of £75,000 and £250,000.  He quickly turned down a £140,000 offer, one of the biggest No Deals ever, and opened his box to reveal the £250,000 stamp.  Again, while many men have tried only Paddy got lucky in the 50/50 final round and had the jackpot sitting in front of him.  Congratulations to him. The Banker Says Not to Watch “Deal or No Deal” Today. So You Should Probably Watch.

Channel 4's Deal or No Deal is still looking for its first male quarter millionaire almost nine years after its debut.  Five women have done it but no male has been able to drop the confetti.  Is that about to change today?  The Banker has been tweeting up a storm recently, saying, "Please stop speculating. Nothing special happens tomorrow. NOTHING, " and much more.  We've been down this road before.  At minimum it's going to be an extremely exciting episode.  However, could we finally have the first male to break the bank?  The show has released a teaser.  Watch at your own risk, but it'll be an exciting one.  Click here to check it out.

“Whodunnit?” Night One Recap: The Fish Tank Thumbnail

“Whodunnit?” Night One Recap: The Fish Tank

ABC's Whodunnit? debuted last night to pretty good reviews so I'm glad to see most people agreed with us.  The reality game, lead by Butler Giles (Gildart Jackson), mixes The Mole with CSI.  Each episode features contestants trying to figure out how a weekly murder was committed through clues, deduction, and deception.  The people furthest away from the truth at the end of each episode are marked for elimination, and one will become the Killer's newest victim.  Eventually one will walk away with $250,000...if they can figure out who the Killer is before he or she gets that person first.  Thirteen players started.  One didn't last much longer than the first act, though.  Click here to read a recap of the episode and find out who the next victim is.  Did you solve the crime or, better yet, any idea who the killer is?  Be sure to let us know and let's see if we can figure it out together.

Tasha Trujillo Wins $100,000 on “Wheel of Fortune”

Not too long ago Wheel of Fortune gave away its $1,000,000 jackpot for the first time in five years.  However, the season's not over and there's still big money to be won.  The confetti dropped again this week and it, unfortunately, mostly flew under the radar, being overshadowed by the million and the winding down of the season. Tasha Trujillo, an assistant manager at U.S. Bank in Palm Desert, won the major $100,000 prize in the bonus round on Tuesday's edition.  Tasha left with a grand total of $110,850 in cash and prizes.  With the luck of some excellent letter calling in the bonus round, Tasha correctly solved the puzzle "COMPLETE OVERHAUL" to reveal the $100,000 envelope. Video: Think Twice Before Saying “Final Answer”

Even during Meredith Vieira's last week as host of Who Wants to be a Millionaire we're still getting moments with her that we'll remember for a while.  Every contestant's nightmare is to blow it on an early question.  A very select group of people have missed the first question either due to not knowing the answer and guessing, misremembering, or just rushing through the game and not realizing what you said until you say "Final Answer."  That's what happened yesterday, and it's probably going to haunt this guy for a long, long time.  Click here to take a look.

Debora Gossett Rivers Wins Disney Vacation and $250,000 on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”

Amazingly, and despite all odds, we somehow had another $250,000 winner this season on Who Wants to be a Millionaire.  Debora Gossett Rivers, a caseworker from Philadelphia, PA, took away the quarter million dollar prize on yesterday's episode.  Debora became the fifth person during the 2012-2013 season to win it, tying the record for the most quarter million dollar wins-per-season ever dating back to the first season.  Not only that, Debora became the season's biggest winner by picking up a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort during "Magical Family Getaway Week," where one Round One question has the vacation attached.  What made Debora's run so exciting?  She, literally, guessed her way through Classic Millionaire to claim the giant prize. Click here to read about her journey to $250,000. Did you know the answers to her questions? Find out.

Weekend Replay: Team Versus Paul Sinha for £51,000 on “The Chase”

With GSN's adaptation of The Chase coming awfully soon, and with the current great ITV edition still going daily, I want to be sure to showcase the best that the intense quiz format has to offer.  Luckily, if you watched it this week, you saw a few great matches.  Monday's, in particular, is arguably in the top three Final Chases of all time.  Our team has managed to bank a massive £51,000 throughout four rounds.  To win it they have to outrun the Chaser, Paul Sinha, one final time in a relentless two minute marathon of questions.  If they can't beat him, though, they'll leave with nothing.  Can the team take away one of the biggest paydays in the show's history?  You aren't going to want to miss this.  It's impossible to be any closer. Click here to watch and let us know what you think of the exciting moment.
