GSN's upfront announcements are today. A few shows I think you'll be interested in are coming up later today so stay tuned. However, we do have one quick announcement to start the day. GSN has announced its upcoming revival of Minute to Win It will debut June 25th at 8:00PM ET. This is a Tuesday so this implies it will not air daily. Minute to Win It is an update of the former NBC game show. Now hosted by Apolo Anton Ohno each episode sees contestants completing seemingly easy stunts using household items for up to $250,000. 40 episodes have been taped.

Back in the 1990s, ABC had a great two hour unscripted block of Whose Line is it Anyway? and Who Wants to be a Millionaire. The CW will attempt to bring a larger audience to its network with the debut of a new two hour unscripted block on July 16th. It all kicks off with the eagerly anticipated revival of Whose Line is it Anyway? on Tuesday, July 16th, from 8:00 PM ET to 9:00PM ET. Two half hour episodes will run. Following that, at 9:00PM ET to 10:00PM ET, are two half-hour episodes of the Fremantle-produced dating/game show hybrid Perfect Score. It looks like ABC's upcoming game show Bet on Your Baby is dead even before arrival. The network has announced the new game, hosted by Melissa Peterman, will debut on Saturday, April 6th, at 8:00PM ET. Saturday is the wasteland on television where shows are burned off and nothing but repeats typically exist. Maybe this can reverse things a bit and allow some games to be on this low-expectation evening. However, common sense says this is just a burn off and we shouldn't expect it much longer than its initial order. Bet on Your Baby sees five families play games and try to predict their child's next move. The eventual winner has a shot at leaving with $50,000 for their child's education. An interesting bit of information has come out quietly today. TBS, which apparently is getting heavier into game shows than GSN has this month, has picked up reruns of the ABC hit game show Wipeout. The show will air at 2PM ET on weekdays starting today, replacing repeats of Rules of Engagement. The rights to air Wipeout repeats have been in the Time Warner family since sister network TruTV started airing them in Fall 2011. TruTV has a nice level of success airing repeats of the show in a block on Friday nights, so TBS will borrow the episodes to see if they can have similar success in propping up their afternoon schedule. UPDATE: We just received word of what is in the 4:30 spot. It may be the rarest of them all: One of the pilot episodes for the 1990 Match Game revival, hosted by Bert Convy. More details are in the post. GSN sometimes gets a lot of flak from fans of classic game show programming for the way they handle the shows. Sometimes it's deserved, sometimes it's not. This time, they get major credit. Many fans, myself included, suspected that when GSN announced their holiday lineups, the nine-hour Match Game lineup airing on December 25 from 8AM to 5PM would be picked from the portion of episodes they run regularly and repeatedly. I am happy to say that is absolutely not the case. GSN announced the episodes contained in their marathon celebration of Match Game's 50th anniversary on television today and they are certainly a treat for fans of TV rarities and game shows, with a sampling of never-before-seen, rarely-seen and new-to-GSN offerings. Click here to see the entire schedule, featuring episodes from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

It's that time of the year where GSN throws game show traditionalists, pop culture enthusiasts and fans of the olden days a couple weeks of excitement. As their yearly holiday tradition since 2010, GSN is adding two of the most beloved game shows from the 1950s and 1960s to their schedule: What's My Line and I've Got a Secret. These programs used to be a staple of the network's programming, but have not had a regular slot since 2009. Two weeks on the schedule will be devoted to these shows, airing at 2:00AM ET (replacing Steve Harvey's Family Feud), being followed by Baggage in what will surely be an interesting shift in program tones. For the first time as well, GSN has ran short advertisements promoting the mini-block. Click here to view the original airdates and the special celebrity guests for each episode, along with the promo GSN has been airing for the programs.

UPDATE: As asked by some of you, as has been recent holiday tradition over the last couple of years, GSN will indeed be also airing select episodes of What's My Line? and I've Got a Secret, starting December 17th. The beloved programs from the 1950s and 1960s will air weeknights at 2AM and 2:30AM ET. The duration is not yet known, but if previous patterns are followed, expect it to be for no more than two weeks. We've previously discussed what GSN has in store for its viewers for the upcoming Thanksgiving marathons next week on the network. They are already preparing for the even-bigger portion of the holiday season, announcing five days worth of marathons highlighting seven different programs for Christmas week and New Year's Eve and Day. The festivities will begin on Sunday, December 23rd. Beginning at 3PM ET and running all the way until midnight, all nine episodes of the first season of The American Bible Challenge will air in order. Of course, this is a gigantic ratings winner for GSN so any excuse they can find to bring it back out is expected and frankly, smart. GSN tends to go through a lot of programming phases and different network brandings but one thing stays fairly constant on their schedule: holiday scheduling. This year is no different, as next week will feature four different sets of marathon programming over the Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday. Starting the network off on Thanksgiving, Thursday November 22 is the summer castoff Beat the Chefs. Beginning at 8AM and going until 2PM, GSN will air six episodes of the cooking reality game. Four of them were seen in the original primetime run, while two of them are being seen for the first time. 11AM sees the premiere of an episode with familiar game show guest Melody Thomas Scott followed by a 12PM guest appearance by TV personality Cristina Ferrare.
