Civilians Play for £1,000,000 on ITV’s “Millionaire: The People Play” Starting May 7th
Most of the year, whenever Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? returns to ITV, celebrities sit in the Hot Seat. However, starting tonight, civilians are back facing Chris Tarrant and attempt to win £1,000,000 for themselves. For three special shows beginning tonight, May 7th, ITV is bringing back Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?: The People Play at 9:00PM UK (4:00PM ET). “24-Hour Game Show Marathon” Schedule
Last week, we announced the full list of games we will be playing for the Second Annual 24-Hour Game Show Marathon. We're going to span the decades and cross the pond to bring you some favorites from last year and new shows this time around. Also, we have some special guests stopping by that you don't want to miss. “24-Hour Game Show Marathon” Full Game Announcement
The Second Annual 24-Hour Game Show Marathon is approaching quickly. The event will begin at noon on Saturday, May 18th from Baltimore, Maryland. Cory Anotado, Christian Carrion and I will be hosting and playing 24 different game shows, in order to raise money for the American Cancer Society and the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore. The goal this year is $5,000. We've announced a few games already that we are playing this year. Now, it's time to round out the list. Endemol Launches “Braindex” iPad Game Show App
iPad users now have a new way to get involved in a game show from their devices. TouchFrame, a start up from Los Angeles, has teamed with 51 Minds Entertainment (part of Endemol) to launch the genre app Braindex. The game allows users to play an interactive game show against various celebrities to see if they are faster and smarter than them. Celebrities include Mike Tyson, La La Anthony (La La's Full Court Life), Jason Mewes (Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks), Jenni Pulos (Flipping Out), comedian Andy Milonakis and celebrity chef Rick Moonen (Top Chef Masters). The app is free in the iTunes Store and runs on iOS6 devices. Celebrities and contestants pulled from the streets of Los Angeles will be featured in the videos. News Flashes: Videos and “Countdown” Game
So there's absolutely no news today. It's to be expected since the holidays are just ending. However, we still want to give you something to look at today. We found a few small items you may be interested in. First, our good friend Cory Anotado (who actually started this website a long, long time ago) launched a new game today. The game is an incredibly faithful rendition of the Countdown letters game. Next, we've got information about how you can watch Let's Ask America since we have had a lot of questions about that. We've also got a funny new clip from it. Finally we have some highlights from The Chase's Christmas special where all the Chasers dressed in costume. You'll want to see Shaun Wallace. “The Cube” Now Released for PS3, Wii, and Nintendo 3DS
I think this may only apply to our European readers, but I don't know how video game systems work with international compatibility so your results may vary. After a delayed launch last month, The Cube's video game has finally been released. You can now play the critically acclaimed stunt game hosted by Phillip Schofield from your home on Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, or Nintendo 3DS. The Playstation 3 version offers Move capabilities so if you have that or Wii you can essentially interact with objects inside The Cube. Detailed Review: New “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy” Xbox 360 / PS3 Video Games Worth Your Time and Money
This week, well-known video game publisher THQ released "second editions," so to speak, of the two most well-known game show franchises in America, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. I say "second editions" because in November 2010, THQ released these games for the Nintendo Wii and these new releases are based on those models. However, if you dismiss these automatically thinking they're just ports, you're very mistaken. Updates are present on many different parts of these games, making it worth a second look to purchase even if you own the Wii versions. If you want a review in one word, mine would be "yes." You should pick these games up. Review: “Weakest Link & Friends”
Just a few days ago, Ludia released Weakest Link & Friends in the iOS App Store. It was a pleasant surprise to see the game pop up after the U.S. version left the airwaves in 2003 and the U.K. version ending earlier this year. The game uses Facebook integration to keep track of your progress and to play against your friends. Ludia has already released a similar game engine for its Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader and Family Feud games for iOS, and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire on Facebook. Click here to read our review.
