Ratings Report: “Millionaire” Hits High; “Who’s Still Standing” Exits

We've got some ratings and viewership figures to share with you this morning.  In addition to syndication we also have some broadcast network numbers, plus international figures which will probably depress you a bit. Let's start with the positives, though.  With the meteoric rise of Family Feud, Who Wants to be a Millionaire has accidentally been pushed to the side for a bit.  However, they had some great news for the week ending January 22nd. It was actually good news for all the syndicated shows. Next, NBC's Who's Still Standing? didn't end its series with a bang, but it managed to somehow maintain its audience week in and week out despite some major problems. And finally, get ready to be depressed about the viewing figures for ITV's intense quiz show The Exit List. It's not looking good. Click here for the full run through of all the ratings.

Ratings Report: “The Exit List” Debuts to 2.4 Million Viewers

We've got a lot of various ratings from across the broadcast world to share with you today.  Let's start with our major focus that we've been excited for recently: ITV's The Exit List.  The new quiz show hosted by Matt Allwright, which achieved critical acclaim and high praise from its viewers after its debut last night at 8:00PM, bowed to 2.4 million viewers. The news isn't good for NBC's Who's Still Standing? with a third place 6.19 million viewers, and it continues to damage Fear Factor. Click here to read about all the ratings and discuss.

“Russian Roulette” Shows How a Drop-Based Show Should be Done Thumbnail

“Russian Roulette” Shows How a Drop-Based Show Should be Done

We're in our third straight year of game shows that involve dropping people for losing.  We had Downfall, and then 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show, and now Who's Still Standing?.  However, these shows, especially the recent NBC one mentioned last, makes us remember just how incredibly good Russian Roulette was and how far ahead GSN/Game Show Network was ahead of anyone else.  It also does show us that GSN can create a show that rivals anything else out there if they put out effort.  We've posted some of the show on Facebook, and we wanted to go into it more here.  Click here to see some of the show and why both television producers and GSN should look back to it.

Ratings Report: Lackluster Start for “Who’s Still Standing?” Thumbnail

Ratings Report: Lackluster Start for “Who’s Still Standing?”

Who's Still Standing? may not be standing for much longer.  NBC debuted the show last night to tepid reviews at best and the ratings show it.  The debut airing scored just a 3.4/5 rating with 5.6 million viewers. Fear Factor began its second week on the air and suffered from a poor lead-in. It still had a very strong showing in the key demographic, though. You Deserve It is still on the air and it somehow lost more viewers in its fifth week. And, finally, we have syndication ratings. Click here to see all the ratings.

NBC Launches “Who’s Still Standing?” Tonight at 8:00PM ET on NBC Thumbnail

NBC Launches “Who’s Still Standing?” Tonight at 8:00PM ET on NBC

It's about time we had another big money quiz show on primetime TV.  NBC is debuting their newest show, the quiz show Who's Still Standing?, tonight at 8:00PM ET.  Ben Bailey hosts one Hero playing against ten strangers in individual head-to-head trivia battles.  The loser falls through a hole in the floor.  If the Hero can beat all ten people (s)he will win $1,000,000.  The previews sent out have been hit or miss, but the last one made me slightly more optimistic.  Optimistic enough for me to flip between it and the Steelers game.  We'll see if it can keep up.  Be sure to comment and let us know what you think.  Read our Twitter page to hear live commentary of the episode.  Click here to tell us what you thought of Who's Still Standing?.

NBC Slots “Who’s Still Standing” For December Run

This came out of no where.  It's time for the annual mid-December game show burn off festival.  NBC has scheduled its long delayed quiz show Who's Still Standing.  The Ben Bailey hosted quiz show debuts as a week long event starting December 19th through December 22nd at 8PM ET before settling into a regular Monday 8:00PM ET time slot starting December 26th.  Who's Still Standing? is a fast paced quiz show pitting one person against ten others for a chance at $1,000,000.  Be careful, though, if anyone cannot answer a question, they are eliminated from the game by dropping through a hole in the floor.  Click here to read more about the show and see a bit of it in action.

Watch the Final Jackpot Round on Spain’s “Who’s Still Standing?” Thumbnail

Watch the Final Jackpot Round on Spain’s “Who’s Still Standing?”

As we reported months ago, our sources are telling us that NBC looks to have shelved their new quiz show Who's Still Standing? indefinitely.  The show is a rapid fire quizzer where answering incorrect drops you through a hole in the floor.  It's based on an Israeli format, and beyond changing how the contestants are presented the show was largely the same as the original.  A few months ago NBC dumped all information regarding the show from its website, its press site, and its electronic press kit site, which is pretty ominous.  Despite being taped and ready to go, it looks like we won't see it.  Granted the situation with Million Dollar Mind Game should make you ready for anything, but it doesn't look good.  The Spanish version is going well, though.  They just had someone play for the 200,000 euro top prize, having beaten 9 of the 10 contestants up to that point.  Can he win?  Click here to check it out.

A Look at Spain’s Adaptation of “Who’s Still Standing” Thumbnail

A Look at Spain’s Adaptation of “Who’s Still Standing”

We're sitting, somewhat patiently, waiting for NBC to open up more on their upcoming quiz show Who's Still Standing?.  It's a fast paced trivia showdown where one player faces off against ten.  One by one the single player, dubbed the Hero, and a challenger go head to head trying to answer questions against a 30 second clock.  The first person to run out of time loses and drops through a hole in the floor.  If the Hero can beat all ten people, the Hero wins $1,000,000.  However, trust me, it's not easy.  While we're waiting for our version, Spain's Antena 3 recently began their own adaptation of the Israeli show.  I was weary of the show due to the subdued nature of the original version is Israel.  After seeing the Spanish version, I'm much more optimistic.  To be perfectly honest, this looks like a really fun and good show.  Click here to see clips and big moments from the new Spanish version.

Set Report: “Who’s Still Standing” Largely Unchanged from Israeli Version Thumbnail

Set Report: “Who’s Still Standing” Largely Unchanged from Israeli Version

UPDATES: We got some corrected game play information from someone in the audience.Set news website Hollywood Junket was recently in the studio for some episodes of NBC's upcoming Who's Still Standing.  We've posted some videos of the original Israeli version, and we've come to learn it's a fast paced quiz show pitting one person against ten others, all standing on trap doors which open on wrong answers.  Again, it's nothing personal, but in the past decade or so America hasn't really been known as a haven for fast paced quizzes.  I'm shocked and somewhat happy to learn that the show has basically stayed the same.  Click here to read about Who's Still Standing.
