MundoFox Renews “Minuto Para Ganar” for Second Season

The Minute to Win It format looks like it has a lot of life left in America.  Just over a week since GSN announced its upcoming revival, MundoFox has announced it is bringing back the Spanish-language version, Minuto Para Ganar, for a second season.  MundoFox is a Spanish-language American broadcast network headquartered in Los Angeles.  Marco Antonio Regil is set to return as host.  Each episode sees a team of contestants play for up to $100,000 by competing in ten simple challenges made from household objects.  Casting is currently underway.  The biggest change this season is production will move from Los Angeles to New York City.  There's no indication if this will affect GSN's version at all, if it was sharing studio space with MundoFox's version to begin with. UPDATED FEB. 4: “Minute to Win It” Being Revived for GSN

UPDATE, February 4th: GSN formally announced this via a press release today. Additional information to note is that the program's top prize has been lowered to $100,000. Shine America, the new name for one of the show's original production companies, will be producing this version as well with Vin Rubino as executive producer. The show begins taping next month and will premiere later in the year.

We've been sitting on this one for a couple of days, but we finally have confirmation and can share this exclusive story. GSN is beginning to cast contestants for a revival/continuation of the popular stunt series Minute To Win It. The word we are hearing is that they have ordered 40 hour-long episodes of the program. The casting notice advertises that the program will be played with teams of two competing for a "huge" cash prize, continuing with the format of teams playing that was adopted later in the program's network run. As of right now, it is unknown if Guy Fieri will continue with his role as host of the program, but it is unlikely. Contestants over 21 in the Southern California area interested in playing should send an email to minutetowinit.casting@gmail.com. Click here to read more about the revival of Minute To Win It.

Ratings Report: Syndies Mostly Down, “Newlywed” Stays Strong, Black and White Beats Harvey “Feud”

The holidays have caused some delays in getting the numbers to report to you all, but that means we have an extra jam-packed ratings report this Friday. We have syndicated ratings for the week of December 17th and, in addition, we also have two weeks worth of GSN ratings to report, including all of their holiday marathons around Christmas and how well the black and white programs did in their two-week stint. But first, the big ones - the syndicated ratings. Wheel of Fortune lost just 100,000 viewers over the previous week, going down to 11.4 million viewers and losing a tenth of a ratings point to go to 7.3. Click here to read the rest of this week's extra-detailed report, with numbers for other syndicated shows, like Jeopardy! and Family Feud, along with extra-detailed GSN ratings information, including the Bible, Feud and Match Game marathons, primetime Newlywed Game numbers and how Late Night Black and White did.

Reminder: GSN Holiday Marathons Begin This Afternoon Thumbnail

Reminder: GSN Holiday Marathons Begin This Afternoon

Last month, we received some pretty advance notice on the marathon programming GSN was scheduling to air around the holiday season. We now know what exactly will be airing during each block, plus one extra day of programming has been added since then, as GSN's viewership cow will be milked once more again on the day after Christmas, Boxing Day, the first day of Kwanzaa, whichever day you prefer to label it. The special programming will start later today at 3PM ET, with GSN's biggest hit The American Bible Challenge re-airing its first tournament. And of course, later in the week is GSN's biggest gift to traditional fans with their Match Game Merry-thon. The marathons will rest for a few days, but pick up again with a classic/contemporary Pyramid bonanza until the New Year's ball hits its base in Times Square. Click here o see what programs will be airing when and to see what will be contained with each stretch of shows.

GSN Mixes Classics With Modern Hits for Christmas & New Year’s Marathons Thumbnail

GSN Mixes Classics With Modern Hits for Christmas & New Year’s Marathons

UPDATE: As asked by some of you, as has been recent holiday tradition over the last couple of years, GSN will indeed be also airing select episodes of What's My Line? and I've Got a Secret, starting December 17th. The beloved programs from the 1950s and 1960s will air weeknights at 2AM and 2:30AM ET. The duration is not yet known, but if previous patterns are followed, expect it to be for no more than two weeks.

We've previously discussed what GSN has in store for its viewers for the upcoming Thanksgiving marathons next week on the network. They are already preparing for the even-bigger portion of the holiday season, announcing five days worth of marathons highlighting seven different programs for Christmas week and New Year's Eve and Day. The festivities will begin on Sunday, December 23rd. Beginning at 3PM ET and running all the way until midnight, all nine episodes of the first season of The American Bible Challenge will air in order. Of course, this is a gigantic ratings winner for GSN so any excuse they can find to bring it back out is expected and frankly, smart. GSN Thanksgiving Marathons: “Chefs,” “Minute,” Regis “Millionaire” & Harvey “Feud” Thumbnail

GSN Thanksgiving Marathons: “Chefs,” “Minute,” Regis “Millionaire” & Harvey “Feud”

GSN tends to go through a lot of programming phases and different network brandings but one thing stays fairly constant on their schedule: holiday scheduling. This year is no different, as next week will feature four different sets of marathon programming over the Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday. Starting the network off on Thanksgiving, Thursday November 22 is the summer castoff Beat the Chefs. Beginning at 8AM and going until 2PM, GSN will air six episodes of the cooking reality game. Four of them were seen in the original primetime run, while two of them are being seen for the first time. 11AM sees the premiere of an episode with familiar game show guest Melody Thomas Scott followed by a 12PM guest appearance by TV personality Cristina Ferrare. Click here to read about the rest of the Thanksgiving lineups, plus when you can check out the rest of the Beat the Chefs season.

“Minute to Win It” Debuts Big for GSN; Steve Harvey’s “Feud” Hits Highs Thumbnail

“Minute to Win It” Debuts Big for GSN; Steve Harvey’s “Feud” Hits Highs

GSN has been having a good deal of ratings success recently due to some very smart acquisitions.  Their newest show, the former NBC stunt show Minute to Win It, is another big hit for them.  The debut on July 24th maxed out at 540,000 viewers for its 9:00PM ET showing.  The next episode at 10:00PM ET lost only 5,000 viewers; it scored 535,000. We may want to pay attention to MundoFox's upcoming revival based in Los Angeles.  They've got a very nice scaled down set, a great host, and a $100,000 format which fits with GSN's budget. Bigger than that, though, was Family Feud.  The Steve Harvey edition scored some of the biggest ratings I've seen GSN have since Baggage's debut.  On July 25th Feud saw 715,000 viewers for its 8:30PM slot.  That equals a 0.5 rating which is incredibly good for them.  All of hits airings do well. Click here for the specific figures for each, more commentary, and to let us know what you think of all this success.
