Pop Monkey Productions Picks Up International Rights to “Catch 21″ and “Hollywood Teasers”

Fans of the hit GSN game show Catch 21 who don't live in America may get a chance to get their own version.  Back from MIPTV this past week, Pop Monkey Productions has picked up the international rights to GSN's Catch 21, which is currently in a brief hiatus during its extended fourth season.  The deal was made by the company and the show's creator, four time Emmy winning game show producer Merrill Heatter.  Click here to learn more.

GSN Updates Schedule: Half Hour “1 VS 100″ Banished to Weekends Thumbnail

GSN Updates Schedule: Half Hour “1 VS 100″ Banished to Weekends

The return of the popular quiz show 1 VS 100 appears to be short lived.  GSN is making some schedule changes and 1 VS 100 is seemingly on its way out.  GSN's original version of the canceled NBC show, now starring Carrie Ann Inaba, is facing severe cutbacks.  Starting Monday, February 21st, half-hour 1 VS 100 will lose all weekday slots and only air weekends at 5:00PM ET.

To make up for this loss, there are a few changes.  The best news comes for Catch 21 which has suddenly been promoted closer to the rest of the original programming.  It's moving out of the 4:30PM ET slot and coming to 5:00PM ET. Click here to read about all the upcoming changes and analysis on what this means for both 1 VS 100 and Catch 21.

Make Your Own Joke: Wardrobe Malfunction on “Catch 21″ Thumbnail

Make Your Own Joke: Wardrobe Malfunction on “Catch 21″

I love our "Make Your Own Jokes" posts.  I'm sure some of you can come up with something involving being topless and blackjack, so go for it.  I've seen a lot of weird and funny things over the years doing this stuff.  This is something relatively different, however.  GSN sent us a blooper from Catch 21 that's pretty funny.  A contestant, Eve, is trying to show Alfonso Ribeiro how flexible she is.  She shows it for a second and has a small issue with her top.  Take a look below.  And if you've got any inappropriate jokes you want to throw in go for it as well.  If you didn't catch the schedule change, Catch 21 airs weekdays at 4:30PM ET on GSN.

New Seasons of “Catch 21″ and “Baggage” Today at 5:30PM ET on GSN Thumbnail

New Seasons of “Catch 21″ and “Baggage” Today at 5:30PM ET on GSN

Small alert to remember the season premieres of Catch 21 and Baggage on GSN today at 5:30PM ET and 6:30PM ET, respectively.  Alfonso Ribeiro and Mikki Padilla return in the trivia blackjack game Catch 21 hoping to give a contestant $25,000.  The show is now shot in HD.  Baggage is back with Jerry Springer looking at people's deepest, darkest secrets before the date happens.

New “Catch 21″ and “Baggage” August 16th on GSN; Other Schedule Changes Thumbnail

New “Catch 21″ and “Baggage” August 16th on GSN; Other Schedule Changes

Here's an alert about a few minor upcoming GSN schedule changes in the future.  However, I first just want to note about new shows.  Catch 21 comes back from a rather long break in a new time slot of 5:30PM ET, being the new lead-in for The Newlywed Game.  Actually it probably has the nicest slot that network can give any show right now...sandwiched between the highly rated Deal or No Deal and the highly rated Newlywed Game.  Alfonso Ribeiro returns as host, as does the dealer Mikki Padilla.  The show will rerun at 8:30PM ET.  I'm hearing 130 episodes have been ordered, which is the largest order GSN has ever given to an original series.  Usual orders are 65 episodes, so this is a long six months of new episodes which is good news. Read about more changes after the break.

“Catch 21″ and “Baggage” return Monday, August 16 Thumbnail

“Catch 21″ and “Baggage” return Monday, August 16

On August 16, "Catch 21" will usher in its fourth season. The blackjack-themed game show has been doing very well for GSN, and quite frankly, it's a fun game to play along with. A new batch of contestants will play the game for a chance to win up to $26,000, in a test of trivia, skill and luck of the cards. It's one of GSN's better shows, and I'm glad to see it back for another round.

Casting for GSN’s “Baggage”, “Catch 21″, and NBC’s “Minute to Win It”

Two casting notices for GSN going on right now: Thanks to reader Mark D. for the email about this. We can apparently say it now: the hit GSN show Baggage, hosted by Jerry Springer, has apparently been renewed for another string of 65 episodes. Why can we say it? The show's begun casting.

GSN’s “Catch 21″ Casting for Season Four

GSN's popular original Catch 21 has begun casting for its amazing fourth season. It's the second longest running game show in GSN's history.. Click here to apply, courtesy of Reality Wanted. Again, the plan that I was told about was to capitalize on the success of the Newlywed Game/Catch 21 block, split them, and put new shows between.

New Game Show Games for iPhone Thumbnail

New Game Show Games for iPhone

Like game shows and are a big Mac snob like I am?  A lot of companies have been releasing some great game show games for the iPhone and iPod Touch.  We did some reviews of past ones, and it was a mixed bag.  A lot of companies were just figuring out how to really utilize what tools they have at their fingertips.  They've got it all figured out and I haven't seen a real dud out of the last few released. The one I urgently press you to pick up is Who Wants to be a Millionaire 2010.  The new version (it's not an upgrade; you'll have to pay again) is a total redo of the past versions.  Graphics have been updated hugely for the better.  You still have the actual graphics from the show and all the real music like before.  The view of the game

Ratings Report: All Are Up or Flat Thumbnail

Ratings Report: All Are Up or Flat

We've finally got some good news for basically all the syndicated game shows.  But first I want to start with Let's Make A Deal which is really the show to watch.  As we reported on last time the ratings are not that bad.  Obviously they aren't fantastic but they aren't bad.  We've got some more figures for you courtesy of TV MoJoe.  The ratings of LMAD versus the ratings of what it replaced, Guiding Light, are up 7%.  It's at an average of around a 1.6.  That's the good news.  The not-so-good news is that it's down in the key women demo.  In women 18-49 it's down 13% and in 25-54 it's down 20%.  It's flat when we look at women 18-34 though.  So the old housewives are a bit bitter I suppose.  The interesting thing is it's up a tenth of a po
