If you are associated with a syndicated game show this week, chances are you're feeling pretty good. All of those programs had very impressive numbers this week, going higher than some of us thought it might. The numbers for the week of January 21st are fun to look at. Wheel of Fortune stands head-and-shoulders above the rest of its competition this week as the highest rated first-run syndie program. Vanna and Pat gained just over 100,000 viewers to make a new viewership high for the season of 12.3 million viewers with a 7.8 household rating. Its Sony counterpart Jeopardy! had a great week too. Ratings Report: Syndies Hit More Season Highs, “Family Feud” Soars Even Higher

The week of January 7th was a great time to be a syndicated game show. Just about every first-run program hit a season high with their ratings this week, putting them all in great standing. Wheel of Fortune stayed the pack leader this week, logging an average of over 11.8 million viewers this week, giving them a 7.6 household rating. That's one-tenth of a rating point more than the previous high and is over 800,000 viewers higher than last week's viewership. Jeopardy! is ringing in for joy as well, as its previous high this season was just over 9.9 million viewers. This week, they accounted for almost 10.5 million viewers coupled with a 6.8 rating. The Sony squad is happy to hear that, I'm sure. Click here to read about the numbers for other shows this week, like Family Feud, Millionaire and Newlywed Game.

Channel 4 Picks Up NBCU’s “Baggage”

We've got an extreme rarity for these days...an American format is selling abroad.  Channel 4 has picked up a series of the popular NBCU's popular dating game show Baggage.  The series is being produced through NBC Universal's UK subsidiary Chocolate Media.  Channel 4 first ordered a pilot of the Jerry Springer-hosted game in February.  The series will run in primetime on 4, so some changes to fit the hour-long game, compared to the current syndicated 30 minute edition, may be coming.  A host has not yet been named.  Baggage sees three contestants reveal increasingly big baggage from their lives in an attempt to earn a date.  Baggage ran on GSN for four seasons and is entering syndication this Fall.  Click here to see a recent episode of the American version and let us know what you think of the upcoming show.

Channel 4 Orders Pilot of GSN Dating Show “Baggage”

GSN's most popular show in close to a decade, Baggage, is making a jump to the United Kingdom.  Channel 4, home of Deal or No Deal and The Million Pound Drop, has ordered a pilot of the Jerry Springer hosted dating show.  Baggage is a unique dating game show which puts the ugliness of each dater out in the open to start.  One person vies for a date with one of three people, but each of the three has bought various forms of "baggage", from small and innocent to huge and jaw dropping.  The tables are turned in the finale when the winner sees the main contestant's baggage.  Can he or she accept it, or is it just too much to handle?  Click here to learn more and to see a clip from the show.
