Ratings Report: “Lingo” Averages 389,000 Viewers in Debut Week Thumbnail

Ratings Report: “Lingo” Averages 389,000 Viewers in Debut Week

Given the high status that Lingo has on GSN, I don't think the debut week, in full, is exactly what was hoped for.  GSN's formerly highest rated show, seeing somewhere in the area of a 0.7 to 0.9 in its original run which made the show a fan favorite, averaged 389,000 viewers during its debut week on June 6th.  The show started out at usual debut levels but overnight it lost a large chunk of its audience, save for the show's much-advertised $100,000 grand prize win that they bumped to the debut week.  Click here for full debut week ratings, comparisons with Improv-A-Ganza and 1 VS 100, and syndication ratings.

“Deal or No Deal” and “1 VS 100″ to Get Facebook Games

Two things are evident from this story.  One is that social games are here to stay and that will be good for fans like us.  The second is that 1 VS 100, in some version, is never going to die.  Ever.  Endemol and iWin announced that the popular game shows Deal or No Deal and 1 VS 100 will be getting the Facebook treatment.  This comes right after Who Wants to be a Millionaire launched their own popular game.  Click here to learn about both games.

GSN Updates Schedule: Half Hour “1 VS 100″ Banished to Weekends Thumbnail

GSN Updates Schedule: Half Hour “1 VS 100″ Banished to Weekends

The return of the popular quiz show 1 VS 100 appears to be short lived.  GSN is making some schedule changes and 1 VS 100 is seemingly on its way out.  GSN's original version of the canceled NBC show, now starring Carrie Ann Inaba, is facing severe cutbacks.  Starting Monday, February 21st, half-hour 1 VS 100 will lose all weekday slots and only air weekends at 5:00PM ET.

To make up for this loss, there are a few changes.  The best news comes for Catch 21 which has suddenly been promoted closer to the rest of the original programming.  It's moving out of the 4:30PM ET slot and coming to 5:00PM ET. Click here to read about all the upcoming changes and analysis on what this means for both 1 VS 100 and Catch 21.

Exciting Moment on Last Night’s “1 VS 100″ Thumbnail

Exciting Moment on Last Night’s “1 VS 100″

Like we said before, starting this Monday, the entire week of January 3rd will double the top prize of GSN's quiz show 1 VS 100 to $100,000.  However, we're still getting some pretty intense moments from the current $50,000 prize.  Last night showcased one of those moments.  The contestant, Gregg Whitney, made it to the 9th question of the game with $5,000.  He decided to risk his money, with both Helps remaining, to to try knock out the remaining 23 members of the Mob.  What followed is something that's never happened before in the American version before. Best New Show of 2010: Number Three, “1 VS 100″ Thumbnail

Best New Show of 2010: Number Three, “1 VS 100″

We're moving on to what you're voting as the third best show of 2010.  We've tried to tease what each different moment and show is, but there's so much in this post that we need to just tell you.  You voted 1 VS 100 as the third best new game show of 2010.  Incidentally it was one of our best shows when it first went on NBC.  However, from fan outcry, high ratings, and the popular XBox Live version, GSN brought it back this year to some pretty decent success.  The show remains practically unchanged and frankly is one of GSN's best efforts for a quiz show (or any show) in a long time. Click here to read about the show and a special event starting January 3rd that doubles the excitement of 1 VS 100 (hint hint).

Exciting “1 VS 100″ Moment, Plus New Ratings Thumbnail

Exciting “1 VS 100″ Moment, Plus New Ratings

GSN's 1 VS 100 seems to have sprung a leak.  The most recent ratings come from November 24th.  The 7:00PM ET airing got 376,000 viewers, down almost 200,000 from its debut.  For comparison, Newlywed Game at 6:00PM ET got 480,000 and Baggage at 6:30PM ET had 531,000. I've gone repeatedly on the record saying I would have done the show drastically different, but it's the first genuine quiz show GSN has done in I don't know how long and while it's got faults it has the potential to produce some exciting moments.  One of these moments happened last week.  Take a after the break.  I am curious, though, beyond adding a mammoth cash prize GSN is just not capable of, would you have changed anything about 1 VS 100? I'll chime in in the comments if I see some other people doing it.

Ratings Report: Syndication and “1 VS 100″

It's Wednesday so we've got some ratings to toss to you for the syndicated game shows and GSN's new 1 VS 100.  Syndication stayed pretty level during the week ending November 7th.  The only sign of life came from Wheel of Fortune. All the other syndicated shows stayed flat. Also, GSN's season debut of 1 VS 100 looks to be attracting some big viewers. It was GSN's most watched show of the day. Brett Favre’s Cousin on “1 VS 100″ This Thursday Thumbnail

Brett Favre’s Cousin on “1 VS 100″ This Thursday

I love spreading viral videos of the genre around here, and this one works well with my large love of sports.  Brett Favre is a touchy subject for football, and basically all sports fans, these days.  He says he's supposedly done after this season again so we may as well get as many Brett Favre jokes and comments in as we can before it becomes irrelevant.  Thankfully GSN is making it extremely easy for us.  Brett Favre's cousin is going to be on GSN's 1 VS 100 this Thursday at 7:00PM ET (replaying at 10:00PM ET).  It seems like there is a bit of tension in the family here.  Listen to contestant Jeff Favre correct Carrie Ann Inaba about the pronunciation of his name.  I would have to laugh a bit if Brett just decides to pronounce his name differently for some reason.  Not sure how that helps you out in football, but there we go. Reminder: “1 VS 100″ Debuts Today, November 15th, at 7:00PM ET on GSN Thumbnail

Reminder: “1 VS 100″ Debuts Today, November 15th, at 7:00PM ET on GSN

If you didn't remember, GSN is debuting the third season (their first season before taking the show from NBC) of 1 VS 100 tonight at 7:00PM ET.  It will air every weekday at 7:00PM ET with a replay at 10:00PM ET.  The quiz show, hosted by Carrie Ann Inaba, sees one contestant face off against a Mob of 100 people to see who knows more.  If the One can outlast the Mob, that person wins $50,000.  If the One misses a question, the remaining members of the Mob will split the money.  It was a great show on NBC and judging from the videos and pictures I've seen GSN has done a good job recreating the NBC atmosphere and game as well as they could with their limits.  Be sure to let us know what you think of it.

“1 VS 100″ Host Carrie Ann Inaba on “The Late Late Show” Thumbnail

“1 VS 100″ Host Carrie Ann Inaba on “The Late Late Show”

I don't know the last time I've seen anyone from a GSN show on a major talk show to do promotions.  However, GSN is making the rounds for 1 VS 100, which debuts Monday, November 15th, at 7:00PM ET.  Host Carrie Ann Inaba was on the best comedy show on American television bar none, The Late Late Show, to talk a little about the show with host Craig Ferguson.  If you watch the show (as you should be) you probably know they won't talk about the show much, but they do show a clip of it and Carrie dances with Secretariat in a short dress so that's something. Actual Footage from GSN’s “1 VS 100″ Thumbnail

Actual Footage from GSN’s “1 VS 100″

It's just six days before GSN's revival of the popular NBC game show 1 VS 100 debuts and finally we have some things we can promote the show with.  The Carrie Ann Inaba quiz show will bow November 15th at 7:00PM ET.  The show sees one contestant face off against a Mob of 100 others by answering trivia questions. Knocking out all 100 wins the One $50,000.  Miss one question and the remaining Mob members split the money previously won. GSN finally uploaded some clips of 1 VS 100.  It shows off some of the set, some footage of the show, and what to expect.  One of my biggest fears with the show was the lack of an actual Mob on set like the NBC version.  GSN decided to make the show daily and obviously GSN doesn't have as big of a budget as NBC, so they elected to place them on a huge video screen.  After seeing the video, I have to say I'm a little impressed.  Take a look after the break. Weekend Replay: UK 1 Vs 100

To coincide with the news regarding GSN's 1 Vs 100 revival. This week's Weekend Replay features 1 Vs 100 from the UK. Unlike the NBC/GSN version, the British version of 1 Vs 100 is loosely based on the original Dutch version. The show launched as a BBC National Lottery game in 2006 and ran for four series until 2009. The 2006 and 2007 series was presented by Dermot O'Leary with Krypton Factor's Ben Shephard taking over hosting duties for the 2008 and 2009 series. The 2009 series faced a studio move to Glasgow, resulting in squeezing the whole set in a much smaller studio space compared to the superior Maidstone Studios. As of today the Endemol show has not been recomissed by the BBC, due to the fact the 2009 series got slaughtered in the ra

Carrie Ann Inaba Hosts GSN’s “1 VS 100″

We've been teasing the host of 1 VS 100 on Twitter all morning.  We can now reveal that Dancing With the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba is the host of GSN's revival of 1 VS 100, the former hit NBC show.  The original host was Bob Saget.  Arsenio Hall was also a candidate to become host, but it went to Carrie Ann.  The show pits one contestant against a mob of 100 for a top prize of $50,000.  The daily series will begin November 15th at 7:00PM ET. Game play information and more after the break.
