More information coming soon but I feel like this is the announcement most of you will care about: GSN has announced an American version of ITV's popular daytime quiz show The Chase. Each episode sees a team take on a quiz expert in head-to-head challenges for tens of thousands of dollars. At the end of the show any surviving team members face off against "The Chaser" one more time for the tense "Final Chase". If they outrun The Chaser one final time the team will split their bank evenly. Get caught, though, and they leave with nothing. The ITV edition has become a popular daytime staple for the network, averaging well over three million viewers a day and topping the daytime quiz charts. Fox shot a pilot for stateside version in 2012 but it was not picked up. The pilot was hosted by UK host Bradley Walsh and The Chasers were UK import Mark "The Beast" Labbett and Jeopardy! champion Brad Rutter.

Be prepared to lose some free time. I'm always the first to praise GSN when they do something good despite what they incorrectly perceive. We've been on a recent streak of good moves by the network. Let's look back to another somewhat recent good decision. In terms of overall quality and production, one of the network's biggest bright spots was Grand Slam. The show pitted 16 game show champions against each other in a game of general trivia, logic, math, words, speed, and strategy. It was unlike anything that was seen on US television before. It may have been incredibly impressive but it didn't click so it lasted one series. But it was an unforgettable one. I don't know who this person is but some incredibly brave and generous person has uploaded the entire US series of Grand Slam to YouTube.
