“Deal or No Deal” Goes to Space for Banker’s Birthday Week Thumbnail

“Deal or No Deal” Goes to Space for Banker’s Birthday Week

If you watched Channel 4's Deal or No Deal today like I did, you saw another one of the show's great themed weeks.  As always, the Noel Edmonds-hosted game celebrates The Banker's birthday (@officialbanker) in a spectacular way.  They went, possibly, beyond anything they've done before this week with "Deal in Space."  The set has been dressed up to represent a space ship (U.S.S. Enter-to-win-a-prize), and the contestants are decked out in space gear.  The boxes even got a touchup.  One thing remains though: contestants battle the Banker to win £250,000.  Click here to read more about the week, a special gimmick, and to watch a trailer.

Weekend Replay: The Banker Raps on “Deal or No Deal”

OK it's a delayed Weekend Replay but I think losing an hour of sleep gives us leeway.  The Banker from Channel 4's Deal or No Deal has always been a mysterious character.  Little is known about him.  Even less has been heard beyond the occasional laugh through the speaker of the phone.  What would be one of the few times we get to hear The Banker speak?  Why not during a rap?  One of the contestants this week is a pretty good rapper and showed his skills along the Walk of Wealth.  The Banker couldn't let that go without joining in. Click here to take a look at let us know what you think.

Video: Game Shows do the “Harlem Shake”

The newest YouTube sensation is the Harlem Shake.  If you haven't seen it it's a short video where someone dances for about 10 seconds while everyone else is frozen around them.  After that every one else essentially convulses with confetti, props, costumes, and other things.  I wouldn't be bringing it up if, inexplicably, two game shows didn't jump into the Harlem Shake trend yesterday.  Both Deal or No Deal and Wipeout released videos showcasing their moves.  Both are funny and "must watch" for different reasons.  While Wipeout's is nice to see for the return of the very-much-missed Jill Wagner, I think Noel Edmund's dancing on the Deal or No Deal video wins the day.  Amusingly the Pilgrims and the Wings couldn't quite grasp the concept of staying still, but Noel played along brilliantly.  Click here to watch both and let us know what you think.  The ball's in your court, Trebek.

Weekend Replay: “8 Out of 10 Cats” Does “Deal or No Deal” Thumbnail

Weekend Replay: “8 Out of 10 Cats” Does “Deal or No Deal”

This past Friday Channel 4 did another of their "Mash Up" events.  Hosts from some of the network's most popular shows traded jobs for the day.  For instance comedian and talk show host Alan Carr hosted The Million Pound Drop instead of Davina McCall.  One of our favorites, Deal or No Deal, got into the mix this time.  If you remember us discussing this last year you'll remember that Jimmy Carr, comedian and host of the former Comedy Central show Distraction as well as 4's 8 Out of 10 Cats, hosted the long running letters-and-numbers game Countdown.  This year Jimmy got to take control of the Dream Factory and substitute for Noel Edmonds.  Sean Lock and Jon Richardson play for charity.  Click here to see this unforgettable game and let us know what you think.

Channel 4′s “Deal or No Deal” Turns Seven Years Old Thumbnail

Channel 4′s “Deal or No Deal” Turns Seven Years Old

Congratulations to Channel 4's popular daytime game show Deal or No Deal as it turns seven years old today.  On this day in 2005 Noel Edmonds introduced millions of viewers to the Dream Factory for the first time.  It was an incredibly unique show when it started, offering a massive £250,000 in daytime.  The show has weened in popularity since which is natural for any show this old but to survive seven years, to have over 2,000 episodes; to practically always have six shows a week; and still keep the game day in and day out is very impressive.  It's been a model for how good the Deal format is and should be.  Click here to take a look back to episode one and see how much the show has changed since then.

Weekend Replay: “Deal or No Deal” Hunts for Winner Number Six Thumbnail

Weekend Replay: “Deal or No Deal” Hunts for Winner Number Six

Five young women have all won the £250,000 top prize on Deal or No Deal.  They're on the hunt for winner number six and Esher, a bus driver from London, is coming very close.  She has one of the strongest five-box configurations we've ever seen, with just £1,000 and four of the power five remaining.  The Banker has offered £60,000.  She's obviously going to turn that down or it would be one of the shortest Weekend Replays ever.  Is Esher going to become the sixth female winner and change her family's life forever?  Or is she about to have one of the biggest collapses in Deal or No Deal history?  It's an edge-of-your-seat moment you won't want to miss.  Click here to watch the big moment and let us know what you think.

Weekend Replay: Josh Pulls a “Deal or No Deal” First Thumbnail

Weekend Replay: Josh Pulls a “Deal or No Deal” First

Channel 4's Deal or No Deal has been around for over 2,000 games.  There aren't many more firsts they can achieve.  They basically just need to find their first male quarter millionaire, someone to Deal at the first offer, and someone to Deal at the second offer and their bingo card is marked off.  They can cross one of those off.  Josh seems like one of those determined players which will keep going if there's a chance he could be leaving with some big money, including the £250,000 grand prize.  However, an £8,000 second offer stops him dead and makes him seriously consider it.  As you can guess by the title Josh does end up taking it, and what transpires is why people will probably never take a second round offer again.  Click here to watch and let us know what you think.  Would you ever take a second round offer?

Watch: “Deal or No Deal” Celebrates 2,000 Episodes

Earlier today Channel 4's popular daytime game show Deal or No Deal celebrated a major milestone.  The Noel Edmonds hosted show had its 2,000th episode.  Two thousand contestants have taken the Walk of Wealth in hopes of winning the £250,000 jackpot and spanking the Banker.  There was some speculation about how they'd handle such a special occasion.  Through all the rumors and supposed gimmicks, though, they commemorated the moment just about as well as they could.  Noel also did a nice, subtle tribute to the show's roots in the opening.  Click here to see the memorable opening, plus look back to the first episode of Deal or No Deal.

Nong from Swindon Becomes Fifth “Deal or No Deal” £250,000 Jackpot Winner Thumbnail

Nong from Swindon Becomes Fifth “Deal or No Deal” £250,000 Jackpot Winner

If I were The Banker and I wanted to keep hold of my money, I wouldn't invite any more young ladies to the Dream Factory.  Nong, originally from Thailand and now a price analyst-in-training for a fuel company from Swindon, became the fifth person to bring the confetti down on Deal or No Deal.  She won the £250,000 prize in, arguably, the most dramatic way the seven year and 2,000 episode history Deal has had.  From the start of her game Nong believed the £250,000 top prize was sitting in her box numbered four.  Three minutes into the episode host Noel Edmonds said, "I think it's going to be a memorable game," with a laugh.  He had no idea what he was in for.  Click here to see the jackpot win in action and to read more about what happened.  Let us know what you think about her win by commenting.

“Deal or No Deal” Teases First Male Quarter Millionaire; Adds In-Show Product Placement

Channel 4's Deal or No Deal is going on seven years and 2,000 episodes.  They've had four women win the £250,000 top prize, but all young women.  Could we be on our way to the first male quarter millionaire?  They've been trying for a long time and many have tried, and it looks like we have another attempt.  Deal has released a teaser for an upcoming episode where it looks like someone will be going for the jackpot. Additionally, Channel 4 has announced a new partnership with British tea manufacturer PG Tips for their foray first digital brand integration. Click here to see the teaser and read about both Deal updates.

Video: Most Unlucky “Deal or No Deal” Ever? Thumbnail

Video: Most Unlucky “Deal or No Deal” Ever?

If you've searched YouTube for Deal or No Deal videos you've, most likely, found an Australian clip featuring contestant Josh removing the top four values in a row.  He left with just $10.  I think what happened on yesterday's edition of Deal on Channel 4 may trump this moment.  Our contestant is Mark.  It's a special "Gold Medal Deal" week where, if a contestant can successfully use a catapult to get a ball into one of three rings, (s)he will get the right to go one box at a time and possibly win a holiday.  In Deal's Hall of Fame is Nikki Tucker, who had the unluckiest game on the British version, never having an offer higher than £250.  We've got a new record holder. Click here to watch what happened. You won't believe it; it needs to be seen.
