Weekend Replay: Another £250,000 Win from “Deal or No Deal?”

We have a double dose of Weekend Replay for you today. Our first moment comes from last Wednesday’s episode of Deal or No Deal. It was Love Week in the Dream Factory as players competed from Love HQ in the hopes of winning a holiday and some big money. Since Box 23 made its inception to the game in 2014, there have been moments where the box saved dismissal games, but for some, left them with nothing. In this episode, contestant Roop Singh goes after the possibility of winning £500,000. It’s a game you have to watch from beginning to end. You won’t be disappointed, and you’ll leave in shock and awe. Click here to watch the episode.

Weekend Replay: Box 23 on “Deal or No Deal”

Earlier this week we discussed Deal or No Deal's newest feature, Box 23.  The Channel 4 game, hosted by Noel Edmunds, recently introduced a 23rd box which a player can buy at the end of the game with his or her winnings.  If they buy it, they stand a one-in-five chance of doubling their money.  However, they have the same odds to leave with nothing.  They are now putting £500,000 on the line.  Box 23 was introduced on Wednesday's episode.  If you missed it, check out the reveal and the first playing.  Would you have bought Box 23 in this situation?  Click here to watch Let us know what you think in the comments.

“Deal or No Deal” Introduces Box 23 Thumbnail

“Deal or No Deal” Introduces Box 23

On the first day of 2014, Channel 4’s Deal or No Deal introduced an extra twist to the game, in addition to a brand new set. The Banker’s mother decided to give her son a present for the new year. Up to this point, all players faced 22 boxes in The Dream Factory for a shot at £250,000. That is not the case in 2014. Even though the conventional game play still exists, this added element is going to make decisions not only harder for the player, but for The Banker to make more strategic offers. Click here to read a special message from The Banker's mother.

Rumor Control: Box 23 Being Added to “Deal or No Deal”? Thumbnail

Rumor Control: Box 23 Being Added to “Deal or No Deal”?

Hey, we're back.  And we're back with a very interesting story you'll basically only find here.  Deal or No Deal, Channel 4's long-running game show, launched a new run of episodes today with some relatively big changes.  For now most are visual.  For the first time, the Dream Factory (the set) has nearly a whole new look.  The new studio is much larger with a new backdrop, they're shortened the opening, added a stats board, and launched a new introduction.  They've also added lights on the Wing desks which let the players vote Deal or No Deal.   A new gameplay mechanism is coming soon, too.  Deal is teasing it will begin on January 1st.  However, an eagle-eyed viewer (and our good friend/writer Bob Hagh) may have spotted it early. Click here to see what it is and read more. Let us know what you think this could be.

Paddy Roberts Becomes First Male £250,000 Winner on “Deal or No Deal” Thumbnail

Paddy Roberts Becomes First Male £250,000 Winner on “Deal or No Deal”

There's nothing better than a game show jackpot win, and that was proven yet again yesterday on Channel 4's Deal or No Deal.  For the sixth time in eight years the confetti fell.  Paddy Roberts, and 18 year old sandwich shop assistant from Wigan, became Deal or No Deal's first male £250,000 winner.  Though the other winners have been around the same age, Paddy is the first guy to do it.  His board left him in the advantageous position of £75,000 and £250,000.  He quickly turned down a £140,000 offer, one of the biggest No Deals ever, and opened his box to reveal the £250,000 stamp.  Again, while many men have tried only Paddy got lucky in the 50/50 final round and had the jackpot sitting in front of him.  Congratulations to him. The Banker Says Not to Watch “Deal or No Deal” Today. So You Should Probably Watch.

Channel 4's Deal or No Deal is still looking for its first male quarter millionaire almost nine years after its debut.  Five women have done it but no male has been able to drop the confetti.  Is that about to change today?  The Banker has been tweeting up a storm recently, saying, "Please stop speculating. Nothing special happens tomorrow. NOTHING, " and much more.  We've been down this road before.  At minimum it's going to be an extremely exciting episode.  However, could we finally have the first male to break the bank?  The show has released a teaser.  Watch at your own risk, but it'll be an exciting one.  Click here to check it out.

“Deal or No Deal” Schedules Week-Long “Dealfest” Starting July 29th

Channel 4's Deal or No Deal loves the theme weeks.  We haven't covered the show in a bit so this gives us the perfect opportunity to.  The popular Noel Edmunds-hosted daytime game has announced a week-long summer themed event called "Dealfest".  Starting July 29th the set and contestants will be dressed up as a "trendy festival site" including a main stage, campsite, vans, and even bathroom queues.  As with other themed weeks there is a twist for lucky contestants.  Players will have the opportunity to win a holiday and proceed one box at a time instead of the traditional three, giving them a large advantage.  However, if they fail the Banker gets to see inside their box, severely altering their chances at taking home big money.  Will we see the next quarter millionaire?  Watch and find out. Click here to check out a preview of the week.

It's back.  If you live in the United Kingdom, it's your chance to face The Million Pound Drop.  Channel 4's quiz show, hosted by Davina McCall, is returning soon with a new series of episodes.  Each edition gives a pair of contestants the chance to win £1,000,000 by spreading bundles of £25,000 across answers they feel are correct.  They must leave one zone open at all times, though.  Wrong answers drop, so if you have no money on the right answer, it's game over and you leave with nothing.  The record win stands at £300,000.  Will anyone beat that? “Deal or No Deal” Goes to Space for Banker’s Birthday Week Thumbnail

“Deal or No Deal” Goes to Space for Banker’s Birthday Week

If you watched Channel 4's Deal or No Deal today like I did, you saw another one of the show's great themed weeks.  As always, the Noel Edmonds-hosted game celebrates The Banker's birthday (@officialbanker) in a spectacular way.  They went, possibly, beyond anything they've done before this week with "Deal in Space."  The set has been dressed up to represent a space ship (U.S.S. Enter-to-win-a-prize), and the contestants are decked out in space gear.  The boxes even got a touchup.  One thing remains though: contestants battle the Banker to win £250,000.  Click here to read more about the week, a special gimmick, and to watch a trailer.

Weekend Replay: “5 Minutes to a Fortune” Thumbnail

Weekend Replay: “5 Minutes to a Fortune”

This past week Channel 4 debuted their newest afternoon quiz show 5 Minutes to a Fortune.  The game, hosted by Davina McCall, sees a team, face five rounds that test their mental and logic skills while facing a 15-foot hourglass containing the team's bank.  One player, the Time Keeper, will allot any amount of time from the time bank to complete the round.  If the Game Player cannot successfully answer five questions within the time set, the hourglass will turn and their money will drain. It's a fun, unique show with an interesting and visually impressive gimmick that works well. It's essentially a trivia version of The Cube.  Hard to go wrong with that. ITV and Channel 4 Debut New Games This Weekend

If you're a game show fan in the United Kingdom, you're going to have a very busy weekend.  Saturday and Sunday are virtually bursting with genre offerings anywhere you look.  The two we'll be keeping an eye on the most are ITV's Catch Phrase and Channel 4's 5 Minutes to a Fortune.  The latter, 5 Minutes to a Fortune, starts this Saturday, April 6th, at 5:10PM UK (12:10PM ET).  Davina McCall (The Million Pound DropBig Brother) hosts.  Each episode sees a team compete in five challenges within five minutes in order to save as much cash as possible from an ever-draining larger-than-life hourglass. Then, on Sunday, April 7th, a classic game returns.  After an eleven year break, Catchphrase comes back to ITV with new episodes at 6:45PM UK (1:45PM ET).  The weekly show hosted by Stephen Mulhern simply asks contestants to "see what they say." Weekend Replay: “The Common Denominator” Thumbnail

Weekend Replay: “The Common Denominator”

For this week's Weekend Replay we have a show many of our readers have probably not seen: Channel 4's new quiz show The Common Denominator.  In the past we've joked that it's, essentially, the poor man's Only Connect.  You're given two items (either two words, two pictures, or a picture and a word) and you must find the link.  While it is similar they've done enough to differentiate the shows. We're very excited to feature BuzzerBlog reader Daniel Peake this week. Dan beat the competition and is just six Common Denominators away from £10,000.  He has 45 seconds to do it or he risks leaving with nothing.  Can be become just the second ever to win? Click here to watch the exciting end game and to let us know what you think of the show.

Weekend Replay: The Banker Raps on “Deal or No Deal”

OK it's a delayed Weekend Replay but I think losing an hour of sleep gives us leeway.  The Banker from Channel 4's Deal or No Deal has always been a mysterious character.  Little is known about him.  Even less has been heard beyond the occasional laugh through the speaker of the phone.  What would be one of the few times we get to hear The Banker speak?  Why not during a rap?  One of the contestants this week is a pretty good rapper and showed his skills along the Walk of Wealth.  The Banker couldn't let that go without joining in. Click here to take a look at let us know what you think.
