“The Price is Right” and Ben Bailey Win Daytime Emmy Awards
Last night Hollywood gathered to celebrate the best in daytime television with the 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Hosted by Robin Meade, Sam Champion, and A.J. Hammer, saw game shows honored in full force. First, genre legends Monty Hall and Bob Stewart were presented Lifetime Achievement Awards so congratulations to them. We could go on about why they deserve it so much but I think that's self explanatory. The awards did offer a few surprises, though. “Let’s Make A Deal” Welcomes Publishers Clearing House for $100,000 Giveaway
This week's contestants on CBS's Emmy nominated Let's Make A Deal have thousands of extra reasons to be excited. $20,000, to be specific. The Wayne Brady-hosted daytime game will be welcoming Publishers Clearing House during the week of May 6th for a $100,000 giveaway. CBS to Pilot Israeli Format “The Money Pump”; Now Casting?
UPDATE: CBS formally announced this today. I just wanted to re-bump this story to the front since we broke the news way back on March 1st. In case you missed it. Kevin Frazier of omg! Insider will host. Part of this is an assumption and part isn't. What isn't? CBS is doing a pilot for the Israeli quiz show format The Money Pump. For those that didn't see us discuss it before, click here. Essentially a team of contestants answers questions as fast as they can by pressing choices on their monitors. The longer they take, though, and the more money is drained from the Money Pump, which is just a big video screen. What part are we assuming? We're being told they are beginning to cast for pilot contestants and this casting notice does further that assumption. Video: Alana Goes for the Super Deal on “Let’s Make A Deal”
All this week on CBS Daytime is "Big Money Week". We've already discussed The Price is Right significantly updating the stakes. Let's Make A Deal is bringing back big money, as well, with the return of the "Super Deal." Every day this week contestants who win the Big Deal of the Day can gamble it for a one-in-three chance at $50,000 in cash plus the Big Deal. Over $70,000 is on the line. It was one once last year. Will it be won again? Earlier this week, contestant Alana won the Big Deal which included a car with rims. She's gambling over $20,000 in prizes for a shot at an additional $50,000 hiding in one of the three envelopes. The other two have $1,000 and $2,000. Can she do it? Ani Khojasarian Wins $100,000 on “The Price is Right” Game “Pay the Rent”
The Price is Right's biggest cash prize was finally awarded during Wednesday's episode. Ani Khojasarian, from Glendale, CA, became the first person to beat the pricing game "Pay the Rent" and take away the $100,000 top prize. This episode was part of CBS's "Big Money Week," where all of CBS's daytime programming is upping the stakes through Friday. As if Ani's day couldn't get any better, she then went on to win her Showcase at the end of the program. Ani ended the day with over $124,000 in cash and prizes. Congratulations to her. “The Price is Rights” Ups the Stakes with “Big Money Week”
UPDATE: The Price is Right has announced "Big Money Week" starts Monday, April 22nd. Read inside for a trailer released by CBS. The Price is Right host Drew Carey appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on Monday. It was, as usual, incredibly funny so fans of either comedian will want to watch. However, for game show fans, Drew Carey announced something big, accompanied by a video montage. Coming soon to The Price is Right is "Big Money Week." All week the show has over a million dollars in cash and prizes to give away to lucky contestants. The rewards for good players are some of the biggest Price has ever offered daytime or primetime, with six figure cash prizes behind every corner. “The Price is Right” Schedules First-Ever Kids Edition on April 18
One of the most requested additions to The Price is Right will be coming to your screens this week. Price will hold its first ever "Kids Edition" this Thursday, April 18th, on CBS Daytime. This special episode will see kids "Come On Down" to contestant's row alongside their parents. The kids will get to play some of the show's most popular pricing games like "Let 'Em Roll," "Secret X," and "Plinko." The prizes include things the entire family can enjoy like a set of video game consoles, a backyard trampoline, a pair of go-karts, an overnight zoo experience and a family vacation. "Having the kids in this episode gave the show an exciting energy we've never seen in the studio before," said executive producer Mike Richards. "The vibe was electric and it also brought out the kid in Drew too!"

Sorry for being out the past few days. But we're back and there's a lot going on. Let's start with a recap video today, though. One of The Price is Right's most interesting games is "Pay the Rent." It's interesting beyond the $100,000 payout, which is the highest cash prize the show offers. It's interesting because the game is, understandably, very hard and actually requires you to think. CBS Turns the Tables With April Fool’s Editions of “The Price is Right” and “Let’s Make A Deal”
For the past few years The Price is Right has celebrated April Fool's Day in unexpected and funny ways. They're continuing the trend in 2013, and its sister show Let's Make A Deal is getting into the fun, too. The CBS daytime game show block will be playing pranks on contestants, cast, crew, and home audiences during themed episodes on April 1st. First, on The Price is Right, the joke is on host Drew Carey and announcer George Gray. For the first time they'll learn how it is to present the prizes. Then, on Let's Make A Deal, also for the first time ever, previously Zonked contestants are going to get a chance at redemption. Video: “Let’s Make A Deal” Record Setting Dice Duel
We've been featuring some pretty amazing wins recently. Let's keep it up with another from the second of CBS's daytime game shows: Let's Make A Deal. One of the Wayne Brady-hosted-show's more popular games is Dice Duel. You've probably seen some version of this game before. Contestants have to roll a pair of dice down a ramp. They add the numbers up and get the money behind that total. If you duplicate a number, though, you lose and your opponent can either take the money or gamble on a curtain. Thousands and thousands of dollars are up for grabs. The game had one of its most remarkable moments this week. The Price is Right has a few games which it only plays very few times a season for a good reason: they give contestants a chance at a gigantic prize. Yesterday saw one of those games come out. Video: Big Money Showcase Showdown on “The Price is Right”
It's safe to assume everyone knows the rules to the Showcase Showdown on The Price is Right. It's practically the same across the world just with bonus prize differences. Spin $1.00 in a combination of one or two spins and you win $1,000. You then get a bonus spin where you can win $10,000 extra for landing on $0.05 or $0.15...or $25,000 for getting the dollar again. It's not easy and that's why the prize is so big. Yesterday had a pretty unique Showdown. Two contestants got dollars in their first spins and won the grand. They face an interesting decision now. Do they risk not going to the Showcases to win one of the two bonus prizes, or go for one of the higher amounts and get a better chance at playing for tens of thousands of dollars in prizes? “Price is Right” Updates: Perfect “One Away” and Rachel Reynolds Gives Birth to Daughter
Good Wednesday morning, everybody. We've got two The Price is Right updates this morning which should interest many of you. First, congratulations to model Rachel Reynolds. Rachel gave birth to a daughter, Ruby, earlier this week. She and husband David Dellucci announced they were expecting their first child during the show in September. Next up: the second celebrity week of The Price is Right has been going well. Over $100,000 has been given away to charities in just the last two days.
