Video: Painful Overbid on “Price is Right” Showcase

Yesterday's episode of The Price is Right generated an interesting ending.  Contestant Mitchell won his way on stage at the last possible moment and played Ten Chances for a new car.  Unfortunately he couldn't get through the game and ended up with a portable heater and a camera.  He made it to the Showcase which consisted of a Sony Xperia phone with one year service, a trip to Key Largo, and a Chevy Spark.  Mitchell settled on a bid of $23,320.  You wouldn't believe how close he got. Click here to take a look at the shocking results.

Cassidy Schlitz Wins $100,000 on “The Price is Right”; Second Highest Daytime Winner Thumbnail

Cassidy Schlitz Wins $100,000 on “The Price is Right”; Second Highest Daytime Winner

This week's Big Money Week on The Price is Right kicked off just about as large as possible.  Contestant Cassidy Schlitz was lucky enough to make it on stage to play the pricing game Half Off, the day's "Big Money" game, for $100,000.  Its usual prize is $10,000.  Sixteen boxes are presented to Cassidy.  One has $100,000 and the rest have nothing.  She must select the correct box to win.  Cassidy was lucky enough to correctly identify the price of three prizes and narrow her odds from 1/16 to 1/2 (each correct prize guess removes half of the boxes).  Left with boxes 5 and 14, Cassidy chose 5, opened the lid, and saw $100,000 in cash sitting inside.  Click here to learn more and see the big win.

Video: Check Game Returns to “The Price is Right”

A long-benched pricing game on CBS's daytime game show The Price is Right has made its return.  The popular pricing game "Check Game" has made its return.  Its last playing was May 2009.  The game got a relatively minor face lift to fit high definition, but the rules have largely remained the same.  A prize is presented.  Contestants need to write a check to cash and if the value of the prize plus the value of the check equal between $7,000 and $8,000; they win it all.  If they don't get it, though, they do receive a big novelty voided check.  Click here to take a look at the first playing and let us know what you think.  Any other pricing games you'd like to see return?

Last night Hollywood gathered to celebrate the best in daytime television with the 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.  Hosted by Robin Meade, Sam Champion, and A.J. Hammer, saw game shows honored in full force.  First, genre legends Monty Hall and Bob Stewart were presented Lifetime Achievement Awards so congratulations to them.  We could go on about why they deserve it so much but I think that's self explanatory.  The awards did offer a few surprises, though.  Click here to read more and let us know what you think about the winners (and who should have won).

CBS to Pilot Israeli Format “The Money Pump”; Now Casting? Thumbnail

CBS to Pilot Israeli Format “The Money Pump”; Now Casting?

UPDATE: CBS formally announced this today.  I just wanted to re-bump this story to the front since we broke the news way back on March 1st.  In case you missed it. Kevin Frazier of omg! Insider will host. Part of this is an assumption and part isn't.  What isn't?  CBS is doing a pilot for the Israeli quiz show format The Money Pump.  For those that didn't see us discuss it before, click here. Essentially a team of contestants answers questions as fast as they can by pressing choices on their monitors.  The longer they take, though, and the more money is drained from the Money Pump, which is just a big video screen. What part are we assuming?  We're being told they are beginning to cast for pilot contestants and this casting notice does further that assumption. Click here to read more, learn how you can be a contestant, and to see the pitch film for the format.

She's gambling over $20,000 in prizes for a shot at an additional $50,000 hiding in one of the three envelopes. The other two have $1,000 and $2,000. Can she do it?
