“Whose Line is it Anyway?” and “Perfect Score” Debut July 16th on The CW Thumbnail

“Whose Line is it Anyway?” and “Perfect Score” Debut July 16th on The CW

Back in the 1990s, ABC had a great two hour unscripted block of Whose Line is it Anyway? and Who Wants to be a Millionaire.  The CW will attempt to bring a larger audience to its network with the debut of a new two hour unscripted block on July 16th.  It all kicks off with the eagerly anticipated revival of Whose Line is it Anyway? on Tuesday, July 16th, from 8:00 PM ET to 9:00PM ET.  Two half hour episodes will run. Following that, at 9:00PM ET to 10:00PM ET, are two half-hour episodes of the Fremantle-produced dating/game show hybrid Perfect Score.  The series, hosted by Arielle Kebbel, sees a pair of contestant try to choose a date from ten single men or women.  Each has a dollar value attached...up to $50,000.  The more compatible the match, the more money that person is worth. ABC Debuts “Bet on Your Baby” on Saturday, April 6th Thumbnail

ABC Debuts “Bet on Your Baby” on Saturday, April 6th

It looks like ABC's upcoming game show Bet on Your Baby is dead even before arrival.  The network has announced the new game, hosted by Melissa Peterman, will debut on Saturday, April 6th, at 8:00PM ET.  Saturday is the wasteland on television where shows are burned off and nothing but repeats typically exist.  Maybe this can reverse things a bit and allow some games to be on this low-expectation evening.  However, common sense says this is just a burn off and we shouldn't expect it much longer than its initial order.  Bet on Your Baby sees five families play games and try to predict their child's next move.  The eventual winner has a shot at leaving with $50,000 for their child's education. Click here to read more about the show and let us know what you think.

The CW Revives “Whose Line is it Anyway?” for New Season; Aisha Tyler Named Host

During the launch of all the improv comedy shows that have come over the past few years, people constantly say the same thing: why won't they just bring back Whose Line is it Anyway?.  Good news: they are.  Colin Mochrie today announced the previously-discussed rumors that Warner Bros. is bringing back the iconic improv comedy show for a new season.  Sources say that the new season will tape in April for "The Warner Bros. Channel".  We assume this means The WB's new entity, TheWB.com, but we're trying to verify this.  It is being reported that actress and comedienne Aisha Tyler will be the new host.  However, the old Whose Line cast will be back.  You can expect to see your favorites like Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles, and others for a new series of improv comedy games.  Click here to read more and let us know what you think.

Video: Game Shows do the “Harlem Shake”

The newest YouTube sensation is the Harlem Shake.  If you haven't seen it it's a short video where someone dances for about 10 seconds while everyone else is frozen around them.  After that every one else essentially convulses with confetti, props, costumes, and other things.  I wouldn't be bringing it up if, inexplicably, two game shows didn't jump into the Harlem Shake trend yesterday.  Both Deal or No Deal and Wipeout released videos showcasing their moves.  Both are funny and "must watch" for different reasons.  While Wipeout's is nice to see for the return of the very-much-missed Jill Wagner, I think Noel Edmund's dancing on the Deal or No Deal video wins the day.  Amusingly the Pilgrims and the Wings couldn't quite grasp the concept of staying still, but Noel played along brilliantly.  Click here to watch both and let us know what you think.  The ball's in your court, Trebek.

ABC Greenlights “Whodunnit” Reality Competition Series

ABC's love affair with mystery-related games will continue this summer.  The network has ordered nine episodes of the new unscripted series Whodunnit.  We previously discussed the casting here.  The series is from CSI co-creator Anthony E. Zuiker and 51 Minds.  Imagine the board game Clue in a game show setting and you essentially have Whodunnit?.  Thirteen contestants begin the series and try to solve different fictional murders.  New crimes will be unveiled each week.  Eventually the sole survivor who unmasks the killer in the final episode of the series will win $250,000.  ABC has had success with previous mystery games like The Mole and Take The Money and Run.  Click here to discuss the show and let us know if you're as excited as we are.

ABC has officially ordered eight episodes of the new Electus and 5x5 Media-produced  game Bet On Your Baby.  Yes, the actual title is Bet On Your Baby.  The series, hosted by Melissa Peterman (CMT's The Singing Bee) sees five families with toddlers between the ages of two and three-and-a-half compete in individual, self contained games.  There won't be baby battles.  Parents will have to predict their toddler's next moves in different scenarios.  The families will return for the final "college round" where one will win $50,000 towards their child's college education.  Bet On Your Baby will debut in April.  Click here to let us know what you think of the new show.

TBS Acquires Repeats of ABC’s “Wipeout,” Begins Airing Weekday Afternoons Thumbnail

TBS Acquires Repeats of ABC’s “Wipeout,” Begins Airing Weekday Afternoons

An interesting bit of information has come out quietly today. TBS, which apparently is getting heavier into game shows than GSN has this month, has picked up reruns of the ABC hit game show Wipeout. The show will air at 2PM ET on weekdays starting today, replacing repeats of Rules of Engagement. The rights to air Wipeout repeats have been in the Time Warner family since sister network TruTV started airing them in Fall 2011. TruTV has a nice level of success airing repeats of the show in a block on Friday nights, so TBS will borrow the episodes to see if they can have similar success in propping up their afternoon schedule. Click here to read about TBS's scheduling of the show.

Video: Marc Summers Discusses His Accident, Recovery and Ensuing Activism on “The View”

Today on ABC's hit morning chat show The View, former Nickelodeon host and current Food Network personality Marc Summers was a guest, making his first wide-scale appearance since getting into a car accident in August. He was riding in a Philadelphia cab when he smashed his face against the credit card machine attached to the partition, causing multiple broken bones needing to be repaired in an emergency surgery. Summers, an occasional guest and correspondent for The View, talked about his incident and what exactly caused him to come into contact with the features so hard. Summers also noted that the National Safety Council has also asked him to become a partner to spread awareness for seat belt usage and taxi safety. However, he is now doing great and he looks good. Summers is scheduled for another surgery just before Christmas to help re-set titanium near his eye. Click here to take a look at the interview with Marc Summers.

Casting Call: “Exit!” for Syfy, Parent and Toddler Game for ABC Thumbnail

Casting Call: “Exit!” for Syfy, Parent and Toddler Game for ABC

Hopefully you're having a good start to the week so far.  As you down another cup of coffee, I wanted to be sure to give you a shot to win cash and prizes.  Two shows, one network and one cable, are giving you a chance to win big money.  These ones are more specialized than others so be sure to pass these along to people who may be interested. First, A Japanese import, Exit!, is now casting for Syfy.  The show, at least from clips of the original version, basically puts you in the middle of an action or horror movie attempting to complete both physical and mental puzzles in order to "exit" the trap. They're looking for teams of three. ABC is casting for a unique variety of quiz show we don't hear of often...a child focused one.  Electus (Ben Silverman's company) and 5x5 Media are casting for a new quiz show for parents with toddlers. The show is a new take on the classic Newlywed Game-like format as parents attempt to see how well they know their toddlers. Click here to learn more about each format and learn how to apply. Either of these sound exciting to you? Let us know by commenting.

Emmy Winners Announced For Outstanding Reality Program, Reality Host

Tonight, the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards were broadcast on ABC. Two awards were presented that have ties to what we do here on BuzzerBlog: Since the Outstanding Reality Competition award was established in 2003, CBS's The Amazing Race has won every year except for 2010 when Top Chef took the honor. This year was nothing different. For the ninth time in ten years, the Phil Keoghan-led program took the top crown at the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards.
