“Million Second Quiz” Ends Tonight With $2,000,000 Payout
Tonight the clock runs out on NBC’s The Million Second Quiz. One person will be crowned champion and add $2,000,000 to their total. Right now the standings in Winner’s Row are Brandon with $339,416; Andrew with $326,346; Eric with $250,792; and Devin with $197,973. Watch tonight live at 8:00PM ET to see who is the last man standing.
We’ve voiced our opinions about the show, as a whole, enough. There’s no point to harp on it endlessly anymore. It’s a good game but it’s a bad show. The live feeds ended up being a more solid product once they started working finally. I have no doubt that in a second season they can iron stuff out, but when you make a big play for a live event game show, it’s probably a good idea to make sure it’s going to work as smoothly as possible. I’m aware that there are issues you can’t plan for but silently slamming buttons without any banter does not cut it as a primetime format in 2013. It hasn’t for a decade. The only people I’ve seen totally satisfied with the end product are quiz fanatics and hardcore format junkies, and that’s not the average national audience. There’s a reason The Chase‘s reception, critically through the nation and not just genre fans, has been great and this has been abysmal.
Again I do think in a second season they would end up fixing a lot of this, and we’re being told that it’s already been renewed for two more seasons despite, frankly, awful ratings for something this high profile so we’ll see. I want to see them fix it because it’s a good idea. I’m just not really sure what happened here. It collapsed under its own weight and was rushed out far too soon.
