GSN Renews “The American Bible Challenge” for Third Season

This is probably the biggest no-brainer in a while but GSN has today confirmed that their hit religion game The American Bible Challenge will return for a third season.  Jeff Foxworthy returns as host with Kirk Franklin coming back as musical co-host.  Nine episodes have been ordered for the third season which will air in 2014.

“We are proud of the breakthrough success of this atypical series,” said Amy Introcaso-Davis, EVP, Programming and Development, GSN. “The American Bible Challenge is GSN’s flagship show that appeals to everyone in the family. This series, along with recent hits ‘Minute to Win It’ and ‘The Chase,’ serves as the foundation from which we will build on and double our programming efforts in the next year.”

The American Bible Challenge is GSN’s most watched show ever.  The second season saw its demo ratings increase season-to-season by +34% in W18-49 and +17% in W25-54.  The season one premiere was seen by 1.7 million viewers, the highest figure in GSN’s 18-year history.

I still prefer The Chase to Bible Challenge, but that’s just me.

  • I really enjoy The American Bible Challenge. Jeff Foxworthy is an amazing host. It’s good to know that there is a gameshow that still has family in mind . American Bible Challenge does just that. Minute To Win It isn’t too bad but it’s not must watch tv for me. The Chase is really good to me. I hope to see more family oriented gameshows on GSN like American Bible Challenge.

Glad to see that the Game Show Network is being itself again and getting great returns for it.

I’m glad game shows are doing well for the channel again, but I can only wish that the ones rating well weren’t so mind-blowingly dull. Nothing fundamentally wrong with Bible Challenge, it just has nothing to set it apart from any other show besides the religiosnousosity factor.

I’d rather Pyramid was coming back, but I know it didn’t get good ratings. The Chase is really fun to watch. Minute to Win It would be much better without the sappy stories. Religion isn’t of interest to me in the least, so I can do without the Bible Challenge.
