“Whose Line is it Anyway” Launches to 2.9 Million Viewers

If yesterday’s two episodes are any indication, we may have a lot more life left in the Whose Line is it Anyway? franchise.  The rebooted comedy game, hosted by Aisha Tyler, debuted to 2.9 million viewers throughout its hour-long two-episode debut.  The first episode at 8:00PM ET scored a 1.9/3 rating and 8:30PM ET grew to 2.0/3 rating.  For the night, across all broadcast television in its time slot, it got a number two 1.2/4 demographic rating for A18-34.  It was only bested by the MLB All Star Game.

This was The CW’s best performance in this time slot since November 2008 in total viewers, best in the demographics since February 2011, best male rating in the time slot since March 2009, and the most watched unscripted series premiere since March 2007.  The fact that its second episode managed to grow says something, too.  Welcome back, Whose Line.  We missed you.  If you didn’t get a chance to watch, the first two episodes will rerun Friday at 8:00PM ET.  You can also check it out on The CW’s website, Apple TV, and Xbox.

A revival of Whose Line was long overdue. So great to see it back. Besides the updated set, all the elements of the classic show were retained, with no new gimmicks to alter the format, which I love. They preserved the show that everyone has grown to know and enjoy. Although I miss Drew Carey as host, Aisha Tyler fits in very well and I look forward to getting to know her hosting style.
