NBC Announces Celebrities for “Hollywood Game Night”

NBC’s upcoming game show Hollywood Game Night has some major star power.  The series, hosted by Jane Lynch and produced by Sean Hayes, whisks two contestants away to a night of games hosted by some of the biggest celebrities around.  Beyond the once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet some major stars, one of them could walk away with some big cash also.  Given the caliber of people behind the show we expected to see some good names attached.  No matter what you’re in to, I don’t think the celebrity list will disappoint.

Deadline is reporting that Amy Poehler, Matthew Perry, Jason Bateman, Kristin Bell and fiance Dax Shephard, Maya Rudolph, Fred Armisen, Minnie Driver, Kal Penn, Martin Short, Ellie Kemper, Kristen Chenoweth, Cheryl Hines, Molly Shannon and Max Greenfield have all signed on.  More are expected to come aboard later.  There’s great names in the world of comedy, drama, and music mixed in, and everyone so far is engaging.  None of these are low on the excitement scale.  Eight episodes have been ordered.

Who are you most excited to see?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, If the stars are big enough, then a $25K Prize can easily be justified…Having seen the list of stars, it actually makes sense. Smart move.

  • #Matt says:

Wow, looks like NBC is really blowing their budget on this. For some reason, I can’t see this show succeeding, just like a lot of other shows on NBC right now.

  • Anthony Fabio says:

I’m not sure of what the format is going to be, but if it’s competition in which the players aren’t trying to accumulate money, but just be the last man standing (like Wipeout), then a $25K cash prize seems reasonable to me.

  • JB says:

Whether it succeeds or not, you can’t blame NBC for going this route (unless they suddenly give it over to those losers who did Minute to Win it and Who’s Still Standing).

Would this be anything like GSM?

  • Kevin $ says:

Especially when the majority of that list is or was major stars from NBC, yet they’re all very well-known. Now if they could just get together to play “Password.” Haha.

  • Sung says:

Martin Short, hands down, for me, is who I’m curious to see do this show. If they somehow pulled in 1/2 of this lineup for Pyramid, the show probably would still be on (sorry, Pyramid angst showing again).

  • Ken in Hong Kong says:

I’m a fan of Kristin Chenoweth, so seeing her will be fun. I think she and Sean did a revival of “Promises, Promises” on Broadway a couple of years ago.

    • SEAN says:

Yes she did. Now Kristin is on The Good Wife.

A few days ago Live repeated the interview where she & Kelly Rippa were carried around the studio by Michael Strahan. Halarious!

  • Dave C says:

This is better celebrities than DWTS seems to get, fairly impressive.

  • Nick says:

Whoa! I did not see this list of celebs coming! I’m a HUGE fan of a couple of them, but I (somehow) love something ALL of them have done. This is like a sitcom junkie’s dream!

Makes me wonder how many favors Sean Hayes had to call in!
