Disney Channel Revives “Win, Lose, or Draw”

A classic drawing game is coming back.  TV Guide reports that Disney Channel is bringing back the 80s game Win, Lose, or Draw for a new season.  Justin Willman, who fronted The Hub’s Scrabble Showdown, will oversee this revival.  Each episode will see a team of two kid contestants and one Disney star test their drawing skills.  TV Guide says this time, “the players’ drawing board will utilize motion control, interactive multi-touch screen displays and graphic technology.”  Disney Channel previously aired a kids version of the show, Teen Win, Lose, or Draw in the early 1990s.  The format first aired in 1987, hosted by Bert Convy.  Vicki Lawrence fronted a daytime NBC version for two years.  Scott St. John will executive produce.  Production begins in July.

Well, Disney can’t keep doing sitcoms, animated or not, every night. That would be being a one-trick pony. At least this will expand them beyond their outreach. Unless I’m wrong, I think this revival will update the technology on actually writing out the clue itself, but the gameplay remains largely unchanged from the 1989-1992 series Teen Win, Lose or Draw.

  • BJ Wanlund says:

Wait, they didn’t get Vicki Lawrence to host the revival? They could have promoted the heck out of it to Hannah Montana fans! Why not???

  • aaaa says:

They might not do the word puzzles done for part of the Teen run, no?

  • Kevin $ says:

I assume the ‘technology’ will be similar to what Ellen DeGeneres uses on her talk show for playing Pictionary. Maybe not that exactly, but similar.

Might be exciting. Justin Willman seems to be a solid kids’ game show host.

Perhaps Robb Weller could be the creative consultant.
