Weekend Replay: Friday’s “Price Is Right” Ends In Super Bowl Heartbreak
The Super Bowl is upon us this evening and much of America, surely including our readership, is preparing for it. No matter if “your” team wins or loses, you’ll surely be doing better than the subject of today’s Weekend Replay. The Price Is Right paid their tribute this past Friday with a football themed program. The first Price Is Right of January ended with a very close bid, creating a Double Showcase winner. The first episode of February also ended with a close bid… but not in the manner in which the contestant was hoping. Contestant Ryan Griffin was passed a Super Bowl themed showcase presented by NFL Network personality Rich Eisen, including a living room group and 3D HDTV to watch the game, $2,000 in spending cash and a new Chevy Sonic in which to go get viewing snacks.
He bid a very precise $22,782. After the break, Ryan learned his opponent Charnece was over by almost $4,000. Drew then revealed the actual retail price of his Showcase… $22,703. The “random three digit” bid-ending strategy backfired on him as he overbid by only 79 dollars – enough of a margin for a Double Showcase win if the roles were reversed. Instead of winning his Showcase and his opponent’s including a trip to the Super Bowl, Ryan was left with only a satellite radio and $1,000 from the Big Wheel. Check out video of the painful moment below.

That was hard for Drew to say that. The toughest one during the Barker era when a contestant was over by $1 in the showcase.
Two words: Epic fail.
You live or you die when you try to be specific with your bid on a Showcase. This time around, it cost him. Sad to see this happen.
That is one of the most shocking Overbids ever in TPiR History
Way to ruin the reveal, Drew.
I didn’t like that Showcase to begin with. When 2014 comes, The Price Is Right will not have a Super Bowl related showcase.
