Ratings Report: “Wheel,” “Jeopardy!,” “Millionaire” & “Ask America” Hit Highs
If you are associated with a syndicated game show this week, chances are you’re feeling pretty good. All of those programs had very impressive numbers this week, going higher than some of us thought it might. The numbers for the week of January 21st are fun to look at. Wheel of Fortune stands head-and-shoulders above the rest of its competition this week as the highest rated first-run syndie program. Vanna and Pat gained just over 100,000 viewers to make a new viewership high for the season of 12.3 million viewers with a 7.8 household rating. Its Sony counterpart Jeopardy! had a great week too, hitting its first 7.0 of the season, also creating a season high with nearly 10.8 million viewers. Family Feud‘s household rating tied last week’s, staying with a 5.1 number, but they gained almost 200,000 viewers over the previous week to just miss averaging 7.8 million viewers, still a great figure.
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is also busting down doors this week, as they jumped up two-tenths of a ratings point to a great 2.6 household rating. This is the second full week after the announcement of Meredith Vieira’s departure was made public, so it will be interesting to see if her farewell season contributes to the numbers. We also have a ratings update on Let’s Ask America this week, which gives good news. For the markets it airs in daily, the show is averaging a 2.0 household rating, very good for being nowhere near as visible as the “bigger” show. Syndicated episodes of GSN’s Baggage took a slight dip this week to a 1.1 rating.
GSN ratings will be in the report next week, as we double-dipped on them in last week’s report. Hopefully we will have even better numbers to pass along then.
