“The Price Is Right” and “Let’s Make a Deal” Renewed Through 2013-14 by CBS

Great news for Daytime Television came out today, as CBS announced via press release that their entire Daytime lineup has been renewed for the 2013-14 season, including the only game shows in Daytime, The Price Is Right and Let’s Make a Deal. The Price Is Right will be entering its 42nd season of the Drew Carey game show and Wayne Brady’s Let’s Make a Deal will be jumping into year five. Both programs come from the production of FremantleMedia and both shows are produced by Mike Richards. According to CBS, The Price Is Right remains the number one viewed show in daytime with over 4.7 million viewers on average. Let’s Make a Deal is averaging over 2.7 million viewers and both shows continue to see growth in the audience from half hour to half hour. We will have more recent ratings information tomorrow for these shows in our Ratings Report. Congratulations to the teams at both shows on making it another year!

For next season, LMAD have to go HD. Almost all the show on CBS (even the syndicated shows are produce by this network) are now at least 720p (except Big Brother). I mean they update the new stairs in the studio audience area, and making new games, so why not get new HD cameras?

    • John says:

Hell, even Craig Ferguson in his (now-former) broom closet-sized studio went HD a few years back, and his show has the budget of cable access programming! LOL

  • Lee Hubbard says:

This fall LMAD should do a special 50th Anniversary show:)

  • GSNFan says:

No surprise here. Most of there other shows (The Talk, one of them) were renewed as well

  • AssHat says:

Sunset Bronson studios would have to make the equipment purchase for LMAD to go HD. If Fremantle makes a big enough stink, it could happen.

  • Matt says:

I wonder when ABC or NBC are going to make a move on bringing game shows back to network daytime?

  • Dorvell says:

I can’t see the ratings on either of these shows dropping anytime soon, so I wonder why they’re only being renewed season-by-season. Renew ‘em through the 2014/15 season at least! Glad they’re coming back in any case, though.

As for why ABC and NBC aren’t trying to bring back daytime game shows? One… well, more like both Networks are dominated by all-morning news programs, or syndicated talk shows on most or all of their affiliates.

Thank you CBS for renewing the games, the only reason I have for leaving the TV on after 9 AM. Now, if you would make LMAD HD i would appreciate it.

Update: You can now suggest zonks for the next season of LMAD.

    Good idea!
