NBC to Debut “Take It All” December 10th
NBC has announced their newest game show, Take It All, will begin Monday, December 10th, at 9:00PM ET. As predicted the show will be run as a holiday strip from December 10th through December 14th. The first season will conclude on Monday, December 17th, with two back-to-back episodes starting at 9:00PM ET. Howie Mandel hosts the game show based on the holiday party game “White Elephant.” Contestants must elect to either take an unknown prize from the “Dream Board” or steal someone else’s. The goal: don’t have the worst prize.
Eventually two people will survive and play a Prisoner’s Dilemma end game which will ask them if they want to keep everything they’ve won plus a random cash amount up to $250,000…or do they want to Take It All? If one chooses to Take, that person gets everything. But if both are greedy both will leave with nothing. We had a set report earlier today. Click here to see that.
NBC has long used the pre-Christmas strip as a launching pad for game shows. The channel launched Deal or No Deal here which became a major franchise for them, spawning several years in broadcast and two years in syndication, not to mention massive merchandise deals and restarting the TV career of Howie Mandel. They next attempted to launch Penn Teller’s Identity, which required contestants to guess what identities 12 strangers had for $500,000. The show had some success in its Christmas debut but lasted just two seasons and 12 episodes. Last year they attempted Who’s Still Standing? which crashed-and-burned out of the gate and lasted just the one season. Fox has also attempted the Christmas debut, debut Million Dollar Money Drop at this time as well, but it, too, bombed from the start.
Looking forward to Take It All?

After reading the synopsis from Hollywood Junket and the history of this particular time slot, I am going to make a early prediction that this won’t last.
Take It All totally reminds me of a cheap version of the popular IK show Golden Balls which aired about 4 to 5 years ago. I was so pumped when they said that the show will take place in a warehouse with boxes all around, but now that I have heard that the center of the game is a big monitor, I am kinda losing interest.
This is just my my preliminary synopsis, but I will hold off on my actual thoughts until I see the show in December.
Make’s me hope that The Pyramid get’s renewed for another season. It would be alot better show to keep on the air unlike this copy cat. But this is just my two cents.
Wow. They’re only producing 7 episodes?
That’s a shorter season than Million Dollar Money Drop (12 episodes) and Who’s Still Standing (10 episodes).
Also, it’s going to be a bit weird seeing advertisements like:
Take It All – SERIES PREMIERE Monday Dec. 10th.
And then…
Take It All – SEASON FINALE Next Monday on NBC.
Even ABC stretches game shows to a 1-episode-per-week format so even if a show has a short 6-episode season (Downfall, 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show, Million Dollar Mind Game, etc.) that it doesn’t feel as short, because it’s stretched over a longer period of time.
Also, I agree with Alex. It seems awkward to have a game show encouraging people to steal from others, being aired during Christmas, which is a holiday centered around giving and sharing.
Identity’s host was Penn Jillette, but right in saying he was in Penn & Teller…
