“Millionaire” Celebrates Halloween with New Lifelines, Decorations, and Costumes
Who Wants to be a Millionaire is getting into the themed-episode spirit as they celebrate a legitimate Halloween week for the first time ever. The Halloween-themed shows will start October 29th and run through November 2nd.
As previously announced the Meredith Vieira hosted quiz show is adding a new Lifeline, “Crystal Ball,” for this week only. Crystal Ball lets contestants see the money behind the question before giving a Final Answer. Will the sight of big money or small amounts affect the contestant’s decision to go for it? The other lifelines have been themed for the season. After a vote to choose names for the Lifelines on the show’s Facebook page, “Ask the Audience” has become “Pick the Audience’s Brain” and “Jump the Question” is now “Bat the Question Away”.
In addition to these slight game changes the Millionaire set is also decorated for the Halloween episode on October 31st. Contestants will play in the Millionaire graveyard with pumpkins, tombstones, rats, and skulls…all under an eerie fog. Meredith Vieira will dress up as a cat for this episode. If that wasn’t enough the contestant, Jason Hoffman, will be dressing in drag as Meredith, complete with a pink dress, blonde wig, and high heels. See if anyone can take home the $1,000,000 prize all next week.

I still think they should’ve renamed the audience lifeline to “Ask the Mob”.
That way, they could’ve selected two members of the audience at random, one with the correct answer, and one with the incorrect answer, and then let the contestant speak to both of them. :P
So of the Halloween week, why are the decorations and all-out stuff coming out for a single episode (and one with a crossdressing contestant, at that)?
The sound effect when someone uses the crystal ball lifeline sounds just like the effect they use on The Cube when someone loses a life. :-)
