Channel 4 Picks Up “The Common Denominator”; Records November and December
It looks like Channel 4 has a new quiz show coming to British television soon. The network has scheduled two months worth of recordings for the quiz show The Common Denominator from Armoza Formats. The Common Denominator is best described as a toned down version of BBC Four’s hit quiz Only Connect. In this game contestants have to find what connects just two objects. For instance, in a question taken from the pitch film, what connects Andy Richter and Arnold Schwarzenegger? The answer is “Conan”. That’s the basic idea of the game. Recording starts on November 19th and runs twice a day through December 8th most days. If you live in or plan on visiting London by then and want tickets to see the show, click here to apply. Given the taping schedule it looks to be a daily show.
The Common Denominator is being produced by Remarkable Television who also do Channel 4′s Deal or No Deal and BBC’s Pointless. Take a look at the pitch film below to see what you can look forward to. Like we said before, the show basically just a dumbed down version of Only Connect. Only Connect-Lite. What do you think?

It’s interesting… definitely one of the more brain-stimulating game shows we’ve seen…
If only GSN would pick this up… would work well paired with Chain Reaction, for instance.
I think Channel 4 would do better with a daytime version of The Bank Job. It’s at least somewhat original and I definitely think it would be better than this.
Hmmm – that slogan: “It’s not what you know, it’s how you think.”
Did they lift that from Million Dollar MindGame?
This will probably end up airing in the States LONG before we see any of the other shows piloted with such fanfare over the past few years (The Cube, The Chase, Secret Fortune, The Whole 19 Yards) – I mean, kudos for someone finally getting a new Pyramid on the air this fall (albeit for 40 episodes), but God, what if some of THESE actually made made it to air here? Imagne what the gameshow world would be like with these choices…
And I’m with you, Alex on this: For God’s sake, let there be hockey…
Watched the trailer on Youtube and thought what a load of rubbish. When is someone going to come up with a new decent gameshow. This reminds me of the students gameshow in the 80′s with the legend Bob Holness called Blockbusters at the end of the show. I won’t be wasting my time watching it. As for Phil Spencer hosting it …………..
