“America’s Got Talent” Recap: Semi-final 2

Last night on America’s Got Talent, it was the second semi-final show of the season. The acts gave it all they could. The show did start out a bit slow, but it quickly picked up throughout the night. Next week is the finals. William Close and his Earth Harp, comedian Tom Cotter and sand artist Joe Castillo will be performing. Just from those three acts alone, this is going to turn out to be the best finale AGT has had. We just have to wait and see who the other three acts will be.

First up, here is David Garibaldi & His CMYK’s. This act is artistic, energetic and very creative. It mixes dance and painting by telling a story from start to finish. Last night, they changed it up by using four panels and painting on each one individually. Ultimately, the panels are brought together to depict The Statue of Liberty. You can easily see this kind of act in Vegas.

Next, here are the Olate Dogs. I’m still blown away by the fact that one of these dogs can do a backflip. It never gets old. Training animals to perform these tricks week after week is very difficult. It’s a fun act that anyone can see and enjoy. Last night, we were shown a new trick that was taught and mastered between their appearances on the show. That’s the key to this act: give the audience new tricks during each performance. The best part is that Olate Dogs is flawless.

Finally, here is Lightwire Theater. What happens when you mix Jurassic Park with Star Wars? You get their performance. Lightwire Theater mixes puppetry with electronics to catapult it into the 21st century. Comparisons have been made with past season performers like Team iLuminate and Fighting Gravity. What Lightwire Theater does differently is that each week, we are introduced to new characters and story lines. That is their advantage. If they make it through, I can not wait to see their final performance of the season.

Our favorite here is William Close. We were fans ever since we saw his audition. Either way, it’s going to be a night full of drama when the last three acts to move on are revealed. The results show is actually this Thursday at 8:00 PM ET. Make sure you tune in and root for your favorite. Did you vote?

Solid predictions to go through. David Garibaldi blew everybody out of the water last night, of course. I’m really hoping that no singers go through to the finale, at least this once.

Of the three listed, I could do without Lightwire Theater. Everyone calls them original. Everyone says “they’re so unique”. We’ve seen acts in the dark three seasons now. And I still maintain that Fighting Gravity did it best. They should’ve won season 5. iLuminate could’ve won season 6. I’m burnt out on Lightwire Theater, sadly.

I’m disappointed that Eric Dittleman didn’t go through. He was my choice to win. I still don’t know how he read other people’s minds…

Wow, the singers got shut out of the finals! This is shaping up to be a great finale
