“Wipeout” Coming Back for Season 6, Jill Wagner Returning
ABC announced today that Wipeout, ABC’s mainstay summer series, will be back for a sixth go-round. Even though it has been dealing with sagging ratings when compared to seasons past, the show still performs better than most of the summer lineup for the Alphabet Network so they’re keeping it around. Bigger news to go along with this, for many Wipeout fans, is sideline reporter Jill Wagner will return to replace her replacement Vanessa (Minnillo) Lachey who served for season five. Wagner is a favorite among many fans, including this one, so her presence will be welcomed once again.
Earlier in the year, Wipeout took home its first award winning the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite Reality Show. This knocked American Idol of its pedestal of winning that award every year since it was created in 2009. Of course, the show will continue to swap in and out new obstacles, new challenges and even a redesigned Wipeout Zone. No word yet on whether or not the winter or spring-themed episodes will be part of the package, but at some point in the new episodes, the show will celebrate its 100th episode, certainly cause for celebration. If you’re interested in becoming a contestant, visit the casting website to view when open calls are being held in California and how you can submit an audition video if you cannot make it to one of those.

Must say that I’m glad that the show and Jill are returning, hopefully they don’t go overboard with the “obstacles” which rely on some guy pushing a button to make people fall into the water/mud.
I already knew Wipeout was renewed for a 6th season, since ABC started advertising casting calls for it about a month ago. I’m glad to see ABC is keeping a game show in their schedule. Next year though, they should find a GAME SHOW to pair with Wipeout. Yes, some of the previous game shows they paired with it didn’t work out, but that’s no reason to stop trying.
None of this nonsense with The Glass House or Trust Us With Your Life.
ABC should finally go ahead with The Exit List.
Sadly, I don’t see The Exit List making the jump to the States. Did you see how bad the UK ratings were for that show?
That’s easy. The Pyramid ABC/GSN simulcast.
Usually Wipeout being renewed is a good thing, but it’s been so lazy this year and is pretty much creatively redundant as a massive fan I think I’d have rather seen it axed.
Mixed feelings about Jill returning – Vanessa was the only good thing about this season IMO but I guess she’d be off on maternity anyway, so Jill Wagner returning is obviously the best option available, though I guess her acting career hasn’t worked out then.
I liked Vanessa she was cute but I LOVE Jill.
I think that Vanessa was trying to be Jill, and she was not that good. Also, the obstacles in the qualifier were kind of repeditive and silly, as you could onlt be knocked in the head. So far, season 5 for ME has been the most disappointing season obstacle-wise, and really the only thing the John’s are doing are drawing with the yellow pen to make a silly image.
I hope season 6 will be even better!
