Weekend Replay: £100,000 on the Line on “Secret Fortune”
There’s been so much going on recently that we’re behind on some of our favorite game shows coming back. BBC’s lottery quiz Secret Fortune is on for its third series. Hosted by Nick Knowles, the show gives contestants the chance to win £100,000 by removing checks attached to answers. It’s been voted a massive fan favorite all around the web and is one of the best mixes of luck and quiz we’ve ever seen. We’re a little bit behind on this and we’ll have more of the show very soon, but last week’s game was pretty exciting. Contestants Claire and Julie have been lucky enough to play for the £100,000 top prize with some other nice amounts available such as £30,000 and £22,000. Can they answer the final five questions correctly to be the third £100,000 winners; or are we on the way to massive heartbreak. It’s an exciting finish.
Check out the end game below. Spoilers down a bit below.
Very big congratulations to Claire and Julie for the exciting £100,000 win. It’s always great to see. Secret Fortune continues to show why we love it week after week. It’s exciting, it’s fun to play along, Nick Knowles is perfect as host, the contestants are likable…it has practically everything you want in a game show. It’s hard to ask for more. But again, congratulations to the big winners.

I really wish someone would adapt this as a summer series in the USA. I mean, it’s not a big-budget show (you could easily play it for $100k here and it ‘d work) and it seems like it’d be tough to screw up.
CBS already made a pilot for it, but they turned it down. It’s probably because it resembles Who Wants to be a Millionaire too closely and here in the USA it’s a daily syndicated show. I doubt this will come to the states anytime soon.
@CuponBoy: As last I heard, CBS did greenlight the show in which they are trying to find a good spot to put it in. But no word has been said since then, so don’t count it out just yet.
This show is nothing like “Millionaire”. But then, what can you expect from a network that wouldn’t give “The Cube” a chance?
So let’s recap the primetime scene:
CBS said no to The Cube
CBS said no to Secret Fortune
NBC cancelled Fear Factor (again), despite having good ratings
NBC cancelled Who’s Still Standing, despite having decent ratings during the Christmas season
NBC green-lit White Elephant, again for the Christmas season
FOX hasn’t said anything about The Chase
ABC has nothing to speak of
The CW is probably going to renew Oh, Sit!
That’s not a lot to get excited about.
