Video: Time Lapse Look at the New “Millionaire” Stage
As we’ve extensively gone over, Who Wants to be a Millionaire is moving to a new stage and getting an updated set for its upcoming season premiere this Monday, September 3rd. While it’s the same show you know and love the set has been given a new, sleek and modern look. The old joke was that the set looks like a space ship. More than ever, this season, it truly does looks like a space ship. You’ve only seen a few glimpses, though. How about a video? The show has provided us with a time lapse video of the set being built in their new 66th street location. We’ve also got some very cool images of the entire stage.
Take a look at the video and gallery below. Video and photos courtesy Valleycrest Productions Ltd. Stay tuned for much more exclusive Millionaire content coming tomorrow and for the next few weeks. We can’t thank the show’s crew enough for being so great to us this season, as they have always been. They’re really giving you readers a cool look into the show. It’s all for you.

Set looks pretty sweet – and looks like it will play similar to last year – hopefully the cosmetic changes will look nice on TV! Still has the old set look and feel, but you are right Alex – this one looks a little more like a spaceship!
The new set is very amazing and very beautiful. It’s also about time they extended the patterns to the floor lights as well. Always thought it was weird the patterns were on the columns, but the floor lights remained solid colors.
This set looks great. It’s a nice upgrade… while maintaining all of the same elements we remember from the classic millionaire set. The problem with the old staging was it was obvious they had to adapt it to the changing format. So when they added the big screen the pillars and floor lines didn’t line up properly. And the worst part, the contestant wide shot allowed us to see the black curtain hanging behind the audience… which totally brought us out the look. This set is built for the format, so they now have the means to get the exact looks they want.
I’m hoping for some new camera angles. With the new format we saw a lot of handheld “charging the podium” shots… which I thought were great. I’d love to see more of these style of shots that puts us right in the same perspective of the contestant, so we can experience the grandeur and pressure along with them.
Set looks fantastic! Is there a way that somebody can record the “Millionaire” season premiere on Monday? For some reason, my local affiliate here in Canada has decided to air the U.S. Open instead of “Millionaire,” which really pisses me off, lol. Yet the next day, Millionaire is back airing in its regular timeslot. Very weird.
