Nong from Swindon Becomes Fifth “Deal or No Deal” £250,000 Jackpot Winner
If I were The Banker and I wanted to keep hold of my money, I wouldn’t invite any more young ladies to the Dream Factory. Nong, originally from Thailand and now a price analyst-in-training for a fuel company from Swindon, became the fifth person to bring the confetti down on Deal or No Deal. She won the £250,000 prize in, arguably, the most dramatic way the seven year and 2,000 episode history Deal has had. From the start of her game Nong believed the £250,000 top prize was sitting in her box numbered four. Three minutes into the episode host Noel Edmonds said, “I think it’s going to be a memorable game,” with a laugh. He had no idea what he was in for.
Nong thought hard over offers such as £17,000 and £34,000. With just three boxes in play (£5, £250; £250,000), The Banker gave Nong a lifeline of a £20,000 offer to leave which she refused. £5 and £250,000 remained and a £68,000 offer was presented. It became clear that nothing was going to stop her. She declined the offer and burst into tears as the confetti rained upon her when her £250,000 box was opened. Nong has become the fifth £250,000 winner in the history of Deal or No Deal. The other four people who have won (Laura, Alice, Suzanne, Tegen) are also all young women. No male has won the prize yet.
Here’s the last few minutes of her game. We embedded it from a specific start point but if you have a spare 40-some minutes I recommend watching the full game. It’s unbelievable. I don’t think I’ve been that tense watching a game show in a long, long time. It has to be seen to be believed.
If anyone watched it live like I did I think we can safely say that that full hour of Deal or No Deal was pure torture with a great finish. For her to turn down the offers she did took an unbelievable amount of guts and I could not be happier that she won. None of the other winners had to deal with what she did. They all either had a good backup or an extremely low-balled offer. None had to turn down that much money with the chance of essentially leaving with nothing. I think you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone who says that it wasn’t an insane gamble, but it’s one I’m glad Nong took. That was easily the best win the show has had and the best episode yet. There truly are very few things like a Deal or No Deal win and we could not be happier for Nong. Congratulations.
In addition to the video above here is an interview with Nong right after her big game.

I’m a guy, and I was BAWLING like a baby, man… God bless her!!!
Ok, here is the thing to remind us all. This also maybe not the only 250,000 pounds that will be given away this year. Their is a chance that a male will do it since their is still that promo going around. The question is how long till number 6 and will it be a male?
I think there’s a possibility that Noel Edmonds himself will win it when he plays two weeks from now (August 20). I mean, I’m sure he is very tired of the banker and wants to take a really large amount from him plus he could easily make-up any money he potentially loses for charity out of his own pocket considering how rich he is. The question is, will he have the right box to do it?
Oh, i totally forgot that he is playing the game himself, but who knows what is going to happen. I think i can safely say that most of us here that is a fan of game shows and buzzerblog.com love how Noel has taken this game and made it something very special, but to see him playing will be special itself being (to my knowledge) only the 2nd host in the history of internationals version of this show to get the tables turn on them. I hope that we will see a male be the 250,000 that is a non-celebrity win it (just like we are hoping to see one on the cube), but to answer you question who knows!
That was an incredible 45 minutes. Really worth watching.
I think the Banker messed up at the end. 68,000 is too low an offer with the quarter million in play.
If he ha offered 80,000-100,000, I think he might have gotten her away. Or maybe not.
The one thing that took me the longest time to get used to when watching the British version was the comparatively low offers. In America, that would have easily been a six-figure offer.
I didn’t feel the full emotions of this game because it was already spoiled for me on FB by the title on the post. I’m just amazed that she went for it with 5 pounds being her only other prize. One question though. Where do you watch Deal live?
George, you can watch a lot of good UK stuffs if your willing to do a little work (thinking of a few nice plugins)
So this kinda sums up the “Fab Five”; the beautiful 20-something year old ladies that went all the way and took the banker for the quater million.
Laura- The first Quater-Millionaire, shows us that it is possible to beat the banker & make it.
Alice- She puts the bankers cockiness in check when she accepts the ultimate Bankers Gamble and wins.
Susanne- Completes the perfect game, leaving the top two cases left and claiming the big by switching at the last second in epic fashion.
Tegan- Won the hearts of everyone and the quater million pound check with her bravery in handling her health issues as well as her bravery in the dream factory.
and finally Nong- Who as Noel put it best, giggled her way throughout the show and showered herself with tears of relief when the money was hers.
Thats 1.25 Million Pounds of life changing money right there. Each of these ladies earned it. God why cant NBC take a page from DOND UK?
I’d like to meet Nong one day.
