Video: Gameplay From “The Pyramid”‘s Premiere Week

Hours before tonight’s sneak peek of The Pyramid at 10 PM ET on GSN, we’ve got a more detailed look at a main game round that will air as part of the first week of the new series. Yvette Nicole Brown and Danny Pudi from Community are the guests for the first week and this clip from The Insider shows much of what people are clamoring to see, like the set in action, the small pyramid and a full set of words being played. It’s Yvette’s turn and she and her contestant pick “What a View.” See how well they do and why Vyette has an advantage in this round in the clip below.

    Looks good!

  • Sayingsorry says:

The music played during the game was a little annoying at times but otherwise classic and I am so excited! Loved the 7 out of 7 graphic that popped up as well

  • AL says:

    The CLASSIC is back!!!!

  • Andrew L. Budny says:

I am surprised that Nicole mentioned Sherri, even more surprised that they didn’t mention at hinting a new season of The Newlywed Game.

Can’t wait to watch it tonight and then daily next week! Was catching some old episodes on GSN this past weekend and can’t believe how much I miss the show, so glad it is back!

  • MCB in Lafayette, IN says:

Oh, man, it looks SO good!

  • The Banker's Nephew says:

I quite like them having something during the main game. Having grown up watching game shows post-Millionaire, it’s always a bit weird to me there’s no background music at all.

  • Jay Temple says:

I agree: Like the graphic for 7/7, could live without the sound of the clock during this part of the game. I thought I’d see something indicating the $500 bonus and the $5,000 in their bank.

  • SEAN says:

There was a short lived show in 1988 hosted by Bob Goen called Blackout that had a similar sound with the bonus round clock. It replaced The $25,000 Pyramid for six weeks & was replaced by the same show it canceled. That was the only time in game show history where that happened.

They got the classic look alright, they brought back the 70s huge tv montiors to help give the clues. My god do they have to be that big? I’d settle for the laptop screens used on Donnymid.

    • Myke25 says:

My guess is that they wanted to get the screens closer to the players’ faces so they don’t have to look down so far to see the clues. Better to maintain eye contact with your partner. And the laptops were pretty exposed.

But those do look about as big as the 70s originals.

I am really excited and looking forward to watching the premiere episode coming on next! I am glad that they brought back Pyramid finally after a few years of wait, and it looks like Davies and company did a really nice job updating the iconic classic for GSN! I will be watching regularly, and all the best to Mike Richards whose got huge shoes to fill – it looks like he will do well! As far as in game music – doesn’t bother me much. I am just glad to see the iconic theme music back, retro updated set, and a RETURN to the ORIGINAL 7 out of 7 gameplay – that is what made the show successful. (On a side note: could a return of the “Cuckoo” sound effect be a possibilty? (One can only hope…lol)
