Picture: Alex Trebek Returns to the “Jeopardy!” Set

Jeopardy! began taping its 29th season today, which debuts on September 17th.  Alex Trebek returned to the set to preside over the long running quiz show.  This is the first time that Alex has been on the set since his recent heart attack.  He was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles last month. He was released in late June.  According to the show Alex is, “in good health and already planning home improvement projects.”  Jeopardy! provided a picture of Alex on the set which features a look at the new logo.  Each year the show updates its graphics.  Take a look below.  What do you think?

The logo looks pretty cool. I just hope it isn’t a bland opening like the past couple of season have been.

I like the logo, but I wish they would update the set (even though it was only a few years ago for the last update). I mean, I love the color blue, but to me, it’s just too much blue. Maybe tone down the blue a little more.

Even if they just went back to doing what they used to do up to and including the so-called “sushi bar” set, and change the floodlight fill in the background from blue to red for Double Jeopardy!, it’d be maybe a bit better. The set is great as it is, probably my favorite since the 1984 original, but it could do with at least that much variation.

I don’t think it’s too much blue so much as it’s too much empty space, apart from the area behind the contestants and Alex. Were those areas and the board the only things we see it would be fine, but then they go to the wide shots and it just seems kinda empty.

Glad to see him back…here’s to many more years of answers, questions and better health!

  • Damion says:

The background should be animated in someway during the credits.

  • Jon says:

    Are the doors back?

Updated graphics – not too bad. Updated home: here in Buffalo, Jeopardy (and Wheel) are MOVING after about 30 years from their long-time home of WKBW-7 (the ABC station) to WIVB-4 (the CBS station) come the start of the new sseason 9/17. Will miss the last tournament repeat, though, as WKBW gets Extra and Access Hollywood starting 9/3.

Here’s a promo that’s using the new logo and includes some logo animation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkA91QGxrQo

Take the show to the Ryman Auditorium aka The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. I would love to see some country music stars play for charity for the next two weeks. I would also hope the College Championship will take place here in the building as well in the fall.
