“Millionaire” to Hold August Auditions at Various New York City Landmarks
As you know New York City is the home of Who Wants to be a Millionaire hosted by Meredith Vieira. To be a contestant you must either take one of the local exams and auditions or visit the audience of the show to take the test. Can’t make it to either? Millionaire, which begins its eleventh season on September 3rd, will be traveling to various famous landmarks in New York City through August to, hopefully, find the show’s newest millionaire.
Here’s a list of all the places they’ll be going to and when you can show up to compete.
*Thursday, August 2nd: Brooklyn Cyclones baseball game at MCU Park (1904 Surf Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11224); Testing starts at 6:00PM
*Sunday, August 5th: Harlem’s World Famous Apollo Theater (253 West 125th Street, New York, NY 10027); Testing takes place from 12:00PM to 5:00PM. The 5:00PM test will be for “Movie Week”.
*Wednesday, August 15th: Somerset Patriots baseball game at TD Bank Ballpark (1 Patriots Park, Bridgewater, NJ 08807); Testing begins at 6:40PM
For the auditions at MCU Park and TD Bank Ballpark, Millionaire‘s producers will hold one simultaneous test using the park’s PA system and Jumbotro for the first 2,500 game ticket holders who enter. So if you’re one of those first 2,500 you’ll get to take the test with everyone else before the game starts.
“Between these three open-call auditions in August, we expect to see a total of 8,000-10,000 people, which is evidence to me that the simple concept of becoming a millionaire just by answering 14 trivia questions never gets old,” said “Millionaire” Executive Producer Rich Sirop. We’ve purposely selected locations where we can tap into the ‘summertime energy’ of families in attendance. After all, it doesn’t get any more ‘Americana’ than baseball, the national anthem and the chance to fulfill the American dream of becoming a millionaire.”
If you want to see the new season of Millionaire in person tickets are now available at the show’s website. Taping takes place from August 21st through November 7th.

For ages, I’ve said I wanted to see more game shows hit the road to recruit. While WWTBAM may still be in its own backyard, it’s “stunts” like these that should be the norm. Kudos to them for doing it and here’s hoping they find some great contestants who might not otherwise put themselves out there to take the test.
Is their any way for me to watch Nu-Millionaire from the UK? I am stuck with morsels on YouTube :/
