ABC Debuts “Trust Us With Your Life” Tonight, July 10th, at 9:00PM ET

The Whose Line is it Anyway? crew is back with another improv comedy show on its original home.  ABC will debut the new series Trust Us With Your Life tonight, July 10th, at 9:00PM ET.  New episodes will air each Tuesday.  Host Fred Willard (Best In ShowFor Your Consideration) will sit down with a different celebrity each week and discuss various key moments in their lives.  After that the improv actors will take center stage and reenact the moments just described in a variety of games.  You may recognize some of the games from the other number of improv shows we’ve had in America.  Tennis champion Serena Williams will be featured in the first episode tonight.

Improv actors and comedians taking part include several Whose Line is it Anyway? veterans like Colin Mochrie, Wayne Brady, Greg Proops, Brad Sherwood, and Josie Lawrence.  Jonathan Mangum, currently the co-host of CBS’s popular daytime game show Let’s Make A Deal, is also featured as a regular performer.  They will all be joined by Nicole Parker, Craig Cackowski, and David Armand.  Celebrities getting the Trust Us treatment will include Serena Williams, David Hasselhoff, Ricky Gervais, Jerry Springer, Florence Henderson, Jack & Kelly Osbourne, Jane Seymour, Serena Williams and Mark Cuban. Hasselhoff, Springer, and Henderson have all appeared as major guest stars on Whose Line is it Anyway?.

Improv comedy has long had a place on American television.  Whose Line is it Anyway? ran on ABC from 1998 to 2007.  Hosted by Drew Carey, the show lasted eight series and over 200 episodes.  This was followed by The WB and Comedy Central’s Drew Carey’s Green Screen Show and GSN’s Drew Carey’s Improv-A-Ganza, both lasting just one series in 2004 and 2011, respectively.  I’m a huge fan of improv comedy and they’ve got some incredible talent here, especially with the hysterical Fred Willard joining the crew.  Looking forward to seeing how this goes.

Wow, waiting for the big show :)

I can’t help but think that ABC doesn’t believe the show will do that well in ratings, which is why they’ve decided to place a new episode of Wipeout at 8 pm to try and attract the comedy crowd, as a lead-in to the two episodes of Trust Us with Your Life.

Unfortunately, I don’t think pairing Wipeout with an improvisational comedy show is going to make a huge difference. Wipeout was better paired with 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show last year, and Downfall and Crash Course during prior years.

Not to mention that they are premiering the show against both the MLB All Star Game and America’s Got Talent. ABC schedulers are certainly doing “Trust Us” no favors.

I think they should’ve done Whose line? all over again… it definitely has a better premise than this show, although its good to see them all back, especially Wayne, but I fear its not gonna last that long and its a shame, because it has potential

I though it was quite lame actually; if I am being honest. There wasn’t much real improv and the jokes did not really work for me. It doesn’t help either for me that ‘so-so’ jokes are followed by an huge laughter, while there not even that great.

I expected a lot more, only liked the David part really much, but that is just his skill.

How was the Ricky Gervais episode?
