“Wipeout” Debuts New Summer Season on Thursday, June 28th
Summer favorite Wipeout is back and, as always they’ve upped the ante. The newest summer season of the obstacle course-based game show hosted by John Henson and John Anderson begins this Thursday, June 28th, at 9:00PM ET. The season kicks off with a special “Hotties VS Nerds” edition. Twelve brains will face off against twelve hotties for a chance to win $50,000. This season the obstacles on the course are bigger, badder, and funnier than ever, but the ever-popular Big Balls remain as always. In fact, there’s a $1,000 bonus resting on the fourth Big Ball…if someone can make it that far. The final three contestants will face off in the all-new, completely redesigned Wipeout Zone. The fastest time takes the $50,000. See who wins on the season premiere this Thursday at 9:00PM ET.

Along with the new game/reality show The Great Escape that The Amazing Race producers created for TNT (much better than Take the Money and Run, mind you), this is going to be an alright summer, what with Wipeout returning and all. :D
I just question ABC’s decision to air Wipeout at 9/8c when it has been airing at 8/7c since its premiere back in 2008. I hope that won’t kill the ratings too much.
They usually have paired Wipeout with another “wacky” gameshow when running it at 8/7c (thoughts of I survived a Japanese gameshow) come to mind.
True. Wipeout used to be paired with I Survived a Japanese Game Show, then it was paired with Crash Course, then it was paired with Downfall, then it was paired with 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show…
But this year, there’s no word on what game show, if any, will be paired with it. ABC was probably banking on Duets and Glass House to carry them through the summer, but neither of them are ratings blockbusters, and neither of them are technically game shows (although Glass House is more of a reality/game show).
I personally thought ABC would pair Wipeout with The Last Exit, but apparently, they’re looking at airing Last Exit in the fall instead.
