Weekend Replay: Can You Win the Aussie “Price is Right” Showcase

There are some interesting video clips roaming around this weekend that I wanted to be sure to show you.  The ratings seemed to have flattened, but the Australian version of The Price is Right is still going along nicely.  Yes, it’s still unbelievably cheap, but they seem to be doing a bit better managing this at least.  Here we have a $27,000 showcase.  Progress of a few thousand dollars…I’ll take it.  If you haven’t seen it before the contestant needs to place the items in the Showcase in order from lowest to highest in 40 seconds.  If he does it he’ll win it all.  It’s been won four times previously.  Can you win the Showcase?

I’ve been saying it for a while but, for all the faults the Australian version of Price has right now, I really do love their Showcase round a lot.  What do you think of it?

If I’m correct, the 40-second time limit is new for this series. The fundamental of the Australian Showcase (prizes from lowest to highest) led in 1996 to the US “Eazy Az 1 2 3″ pricing game. And the Showcase Playoff, when devised in 1973, was taken from the flop “Double Bullseye” pricing game from the US version.

First, gotta say I like the set. I’m sure there would be many here screaming if our version tried a set like that, but I think it looks good.

As for this bonus round, the idea isn’t bad at all, and I was glad they didn’t show the price of the car before the ending so we could just figure it out before the reveal.

The only thing I didn’t like here was the headline “Can you win…”

no I couldn’t even participate as I never saw the prizes.
