UPDATED INFORMATION ON OPEN CASTING CALLS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STORY

MundoFox is a new Spanish-language network launching in the United States in August 2012.  It’s a joint venture between Fox International Channels and RNC Television.  You can click here to visit their website and learn more about them.  If you’re one of the people that gets the network around its launch time you’re going to be seeing a now-cancelled game show make its return to American television.  MundoFox has picked up, and is currently fasting for, a new version of Minute to Win It.

The series, called Minuto Para Ganar, sees Spanish-speaking couples play up to ten simple games using household items to win up to $100,000.  Minute to Win It was previously seen in the United States from 2010 to 2011.  This is the first American edition of the show in over a year.

Marco Antonio Regil hosts. Marco has hosted the Spanish-language version of The Price is Right and Family Feud. He’s also hosted the American live stage version of Price. Minuto Para Ganar is currently casting for Spanish speaking couples to play the Los Angeles-based game. If you and a friend or family member want to take part and win anywhere from $500 to $100,000, click here to email a casting producer. And, as always, be sure to tell them BuzzerBlog sent you.

I’ve seen clips of Marco’s work on the Mexican-based “Price”, “Feud” and even “5th Grader?”

    Right man, right situation.

It will be muy interesante to see if MundoFox gets any exposure on cable systems around here, or not. Some people are turned off by the mere mention of the Fox name, for any of several reasons (including ideology–thank you Fox News!)

It will also be muy interesante to see if “Minuto Para Ganar” can avoid making the mistakes NBC made with the property. Setting the top prize at $100,000 might help them avoid getting the big head,

Of course., it might be easier just to pick up “El Cubo” from the Spanish network that is running it four times a week. But the Castellano accent does not attract Mexican-accented speakers of the Loving Tongue.

  • Joseph Lambert says:

This is actually the third season of the game show but the first 2 seasons were in the english language. The third season, hosted by Regil, will be solely in spanish and will be the networks’s first us produced series.

  • Adam says:

I wonder whether or not MundoFox will appear in Boston, and if yes, my guess would be WFXT-DT 25.2

  • Mark Jeffries says:

The teaser promos for the net have been saying “broadcast network,” which I would interpret to be “digital subchannels of Fox affiliates.” In some markets, that may be a problem if the Fox affil is filled up with MyTV/CW/MeTV/RTN on their subchannels, but some of those markets, aren’t Spanish-speaking, either. As for the Fox-owned stations, their subchannels are empty and waiting to be filled.
