“Let’s Make A Deal”: Does Jorge Win the Super Deal?
CBS’s daytime game show Let’s Make A Deal has brought back an old gimmick, the Super Deal, for the next two weeks. If the today’s biggest trader picks the correct curtain with the Big Deal behind it, he or she can give that up for the shot at the Super Deal. Three envelopes are presented. One has $1,000; another $2,000; but one has $50,000. Find the smaller amounts and that’s what you get, but if you find the $50,000 you get that plus your Big Deal. Over $70,000 in cash and prizes are on the line…a record for any version of Let’s Make A Deal. Today’s winner, Jorge, correctly picked the curtain with the Big Deal and won trips to France and London; a prize package of over $23,000. Will he go for the Super Deal and, better yet, can Jorge be the biggest winner in the show’s history and leave with over $73,000 in cash and prizes?
Spoilers below the video, obviously. If the video isn’t working, give it time. This is CBS’s embed code, not ours, so it’s their technical problems.
Great, great win. That was one of the more exciting and great moments in American game shows in a while. You don’t see that kind of enthusiasm in both the players and the audience too much anymore. The Super Deal has worked out great as a special series. I hope they bring it back for a week or two next year.

Wow! He got the big deal and super deal
You said he won trips to Paris and France, isn’t that basically the same thing?
I meant London, sorry. My fault. Fixed. My mind isn’t working today.
Between this and UK, April 2, 2012 was quite a day for blue. Way to go Jorge and ‘Cats!!!
I had a feeling he was going to go for the Super Deal, since trips aren’t really that important, but I was extremely happy for him when he won the Super Deal. Seeing all those dollar bills fall down from the ceiling in celebration was a great moment for Let’s Make a Deal! :D
I would’ve liked it just a little more if Jonathan had picked up five of those fake $100 bills that dropped from the ceiling & used it for that day’s $500 twitter Quickie Deal.
Seriously, when I saw the Super Deal on reruns of the original, I always loved it. It added an element of suspense and excitement that the show never really had. I mean, getting the big deal is still awesome, but this is seriously wonderful. I am a huge fan of this version of the show and the original. I hope they bring this back for a few weeks every once in a while.
What is ironic about this is that, if I recall right, Monty Hall NEVER liked the Super Deal gimmick. But nonetheless, exciting and history-making moment.
I wouldn’t say “never” — but I do recall Monty noted the Super Deal diluted the quality of the Big Deal.
BTW, does this mean Jorge is the biggest winner in LMaD history? I recall Big Deals on the LMaD on NBC primetime (less said the better, I know) were less than $60K each.
Must be the biggest winner. He won over $73,000 in cash and prizes (more than any of Billy Bush’s episodes have ever offered in a single Big Deal). $23,000+ Big Deal, $50,000 from the Super Deal.
I’d like to see the Super Deal return for 2012-2013, for the whole season. However, it can be a bit too predictable, depending on when Wayne calls for the Big Deal of the Day. If there’s about 10-15 minutes left in the show, you can guess the Big Deal won’t be won, hence the Super Deal won’t be played for, and quickie deals will happen right after the commercial break. If there’s about 20 minutes left in the show, you can guess the Big Deal will be won, which will allow for the commercial break, the Super Deal decision, and quickie deals.
To remedy this, I would suggest making the Super Deal worth $10,000 if the Big Deal isn’t won, and worth $50,000 if the Big Deal is won.
It’s funny you mentioned this Ben, because I noticed the same thing. Wayne usually starts the Big Deal around 5:47 pm (yes, I watch it on the Western CBS feed, because I can never wake up early enough to catch it at 10 am). But yesterday, he started the Big Deal at 5:40 pm, which gave the impression that the guy picked the right door and won the Big Deal, and they needed the extra time to give him a shot at the Super Deal.
John Madden: “It seems to be raining in the studio, Pat…”
Pat Summerall: “I see it too, John; some kind of weird, green, money rain.”
Nice job, Jorge!
Shall I be contrarian? Ok, I will- I hate the Super Deal. It NEVER makes sense to go for it, ever.
At least with the Big Deal portion, if you take the gamble, you’re closer to 2/3 (if not more if you had people pass) to at least break roughly even in terms of price with the big one and the middle sized one. But when it comes to the Super Deal, you are 2 in 3 to come out straight up worse than you were in winnings, since most days people are trading in (at the beginning of the big/super process) about 5-6k in prizes and, if they go for the super deal, will end up with at most 2 thousand dollars. It’s just a bad gamble.
