BBC Radio 4 Pilots US Version of “The News Quiz” Starring Lewis Black
BBC America has given viewers some of the first American comedy panel quiz shows, like Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me and Would You Rather, after having been in England for decades. BBC is looking to continue that with an adaptation of their Radio 4 show The News Quiz, hosted natively by comedian Sandi Toksvig. The American pilot, hosted by Lewis Black, will take aim at the 2012 Republican primary election and the absurdities of it. On the panel are comedians Andy Borowitz, Kathleen Madigan, Ted Alexandro, and Todd Barry.
The pilot aired on BBC Radio 4 yesterday, March 22nd. If the pilot is successful, and given that it’s aired we should know soon, it may be developed into a full series for this presidential election. The series may then be available for America as either a podcast or, possibly, an NPR show. However, everyone, including Americans, can listen to a replay of the pilot here. Just click this link and then click “Listen Now”. If you want something like this in America, or something like this to appear again, you’re going to have to listen.
What did you think? I’m in the middle of it right now but I’m already loving it. Is this something you’d like to see in America?
Here’s a video clip of the pilot in action.

Just listened through, and it was thoroughly enjoyable. I don’t have any podcasts I follow but if this was picked up and/or turned into a podcast I’d listen every week, definitely.
Not too shabby. I wouldn’t mind having that as a complement to Wait Wait. :)
The Beeb couldn’t wait until April 15 to premiere this disaster?
