“Family Feud” Renewed Through 2015; Goes HD

All hail Steve Harvey.  The long running game show Family Feud has gone under a large revitilization since the installation of host Steve Harvey.  As a result, the show has been renewed in 75% of the country (so far) through 2015.  Since Steve joined the show, Family Feud has increased its ratings by 35% in total households and 40% in the key demographic of women 25-54.  This season saw many stations upgrade the show to a prime slot between 5PM and 8PM, a vast improvement from the often past-midnight slots many markets saw before Steve.  The show will go HD starting next season.  Family Feud in its current incarnation has been on the air since 1999.

“Stations have wasted no time in securing this franchise well into the future with these long-term renewals, extending Family Feud through 2015 and making it a viable alternative to off-network sitcoms for many stations seeking strong early fringe and access programming,” said Debmar Mercury co-president Ira Bernstein.

We’ve got this Steve and this lady to thank for getting the ball rolling.  Congratulations to the crew.  They’ve brought new life to the show out of no where and I hope it sticks around for a long, long time.

Congrats to Steve and the entire crew! It’s nice to see Feud’s future secured, and it should only get better as time goes on.

The Feud is finally going HD.
Making it the forth show to go HD, hopefully let’s make a deal is next.

  • Tony DuMont says:

I thought they just laughed until time ran out. I guess that clip was just an outtake.

  • gene says:

I bet they are going to still use that same theme in 2015

  • Stew says:

You can hail Steve Harvey all you want. To me and my family and friends, he’s terrible and we don’t watch Family Feud anymore.

    • Jason says:

I agree. I think for the 15th season, they should ask Richard Karn, my favorite host on this show, to come host a few more seasons.

  • John Fenner says:

Feud’s always been one of my favorite shows for as long as I can remember. John O’Hurley kept it alive for four years after it looked like Karn was going to kill it, and now Steve’s got it renewed up till 2015. I hope he doesn’t step down or get fired like the last few hosts did, Feud seems to have been a revolving door going all the way back 16 years ago when Ray Combs was canned and Dawson was brought back. Long live the Feud!

  • Matt says:

It looks like Family Feud is ready to compete with Wheel and Jeopardy now. Both Wheel and Jeopardy are renewed through 2014, who knows if both of those shows will get renewed. Feud’s ratings are starting to close in on Jeopardy’s ratings, but a long way from Wheel’s. Steve Harvey could be right up there when Dawson and Combs use to host Feud. Keep Feud in some of prime slots so it can compete now.

When will the show goes HD? Survey Says… Next Year! Woo-Hoo!!!

  • glenn says:

I saw Harvey’s version. I’ll say I can see his appeal but he seems like a cross between the worst of Dawson (Making the show about him) and the worst of Combs (the over the topness) That being said I can see his appeal and wish him well…but I was expecting some sort of miracle hosting job…I still say of modern feud O Hurley was better.

Congrats to Steve and the Family Feud staff. It’s been a long time coming. But, not surprising is stations starting to air it in the Prime Time Access hour, which is the case here in Shreveport. As for the show being in HD, it’s also a long time coming. Keep up the good work, Feud. I will continue to watch as I have since I was born (in ’77).

  • Cody says:

If they want to keep the original FF theme, They need to update it with new underscores so it sounds current. Perhaps a pop-rock arangement?

  • Jay says:

Great to hear ‘Family Feud’ will keep going, Steve Harvey certainly brings energy to the show. Also glad to hear it’ll finally make the jump to HD, hopefully ‘Let’s Make a Deal’ will follow suit soon.

  • Tom says:

John O,Hurley was a class act . I,m afraid that Steve Harvey comes across to me as an arrogant bully whose idea of humour is belittling others .Maybe this the American way . Anyway, its spoiled the feud for me

  • Stephanie says:

I absolutely love the Family Feud. I have always watched since Richard Dawson. Yes, Steve brings the humor, the energy, and the excitement to the show. I have two shows on my DVR that were absolutely cracking me up and I really don’t want to delete them. I still look at the part of the show made me laugh to laugh!

  • Jason says:

“Oh, yeah! Steve Harvey’s so great!” I THINK NOT! The staff needs to make sure that for those who aren’t allowed to watch Steve Harvey, they should make sure this will be Harvey’s last season. I hate him so much!
