ABC Orders New Improv Comedy Series “Trust Us With Your Life”

GSN’s improv comedy series Improv-A-Ganza didn’t work out too well, but improv comedy fans aren’t out of luck.  ABC will be taping a new series called Trust Us With Your Life featuring many of the former Whose Line is it Anyway? performers.  The show tapes in October in England.  The company behind the show is Hat Trick.  They’re the ones that made Whose Line is it Anyway? and other great improv shows like Mock the Week, so you know it’ll be good.  Six tape dates through the end of October have been announced at the BBC TV Centre.

Trust Us With Your Life, hosted by actor Fred Willard,  features celebrity guests discussing important and interesting moments from their lives.  The improvisers will then act out the scenes from the information given.  Regular performers include Let’s Make A Deal‘s Wayne Brady, Whose Line‘s Colin Mochrie, and Let’s Make A Deal‘s Jonathan Mangum.  Guest improvisors include Greg Proops and Nicole Parker.

They never give up, do they? That’s a good thing, because they finally have an improv show back on a major network. Improv-a-Ganza was okay, but it was just misplaced on the wrong channel. I hope this one ends up being a hit.

    • LaJuan says:

      I agree 100%, Nikolai!

I like the format of TUwYL. Reminds me of two (I guess you could call them more longform) type improv games: “Day in the Life” and “Dream Sequence”. Both quality. Can’t wait to watch!

  • Seth D says:

How can Wayne Brady and Jonathan Mangum be regulars on the show when it is an ABC show? Aren’t they contracted with CBS?

  • Maddie R says:

I was thinking the same thing about Wayne & Jonathan, and what about Ryan,Jeff,Chip and Brad they have to be in it.

    • Chris says:

I’m pretty sure Ryan won’t be in it, Nor Jeff or Chip. But I’m sure I’ve seen Brad Sherwood at one of the tapings, so you wont be let down there!

  • Cory J says:

Hopefully, if it is successful, Ryan, Jeff, Chip, Brad, and of course Heather, can guest star and/or become regulars aswell. Thank god improv is still here, and we didn’t have to wait another 6 year for it to come back..

  • Korrea says:

I LOVE Improv-A-Ganza/Whose Line! Everything Drew Carey!!!! I Wanna See Those Fabulous Guys Again! Hope 2 See Mister Brad Sherwood. Jeff Bryan Davis. Ryan Stiles. Sean Mastersons And Miss Kathy Kinney & Heather Anne Campbell! : )

  • Jason says:

If this works well, they should switch taping locations to Los Angeles.

  • Kirsten says:

I Hope Jeff Davis Will Be On It He Is So Funny!

  • Scott says:

This type of program might pull in better ratings on ABC since the network does not air programming specific to one genre and one genre only. GSN is known for game shows and is genre-specific to game shows most of the time, so anyone who didn’t like game shows most likely wouldn’t get GSN just to see Improv-A-Ganza on it.

    Seth…

You’re allowed on a different network, many times, if it’s a different time of day (i.e. Daytime and Primetime). Bc “Deal” is on CBS Daytime, they’re allowed on ABC Primetime. This is why Sharon Osborne is allowed to do “The Talk” on CBS Daytime while still doing “America’s Got Talent” on NBC Primetime.

  • Amy says:

If the show is successful and is picked up for more seasons, maybe ABC could pick up Improv-A-Ganza and air it on the same night back to back.

  • Lauren says:

Amy… THAT would be freaking wonderful in ABC picked up Impov-A-Ganza, wouldn’t it??!! I LOVED that show!! Heck, I BEGGED my dang folks to get GSN just for that basted show and now it’s not even on – and I am so mad! They don’t even re-air it, for crying out loud (or, at least…IF they do, it’s never at a time that I can catch it…di**heads!!) LOL

I SO hope that they do this show right (people watch it like crazy maniacs) and I really freakin’ hope that they bring back all the regulars…it just wouldn’t be the same without Ryan Stiles (he began this thing with Colin and Greg overseas!!), Brad, Jeff, Kathy, Sean, etc. They ALL need to be there. It’s just not right without them. I can understand if they don’t want to do it – but to not offer it, is just wrong!

    • Nathalie says:

They have all the full episodes on youtube…just search “Drew Carey’s Improv-a-Ganza”, and you can see all 40 episodes.

  • Brian says:

    expected air date?

  • megan says:

IM SORRY IM NOT WATCHING IT BECAUSE MY GUY WONT BE ON THERE, AND I’LL MISS HIM TO MUCH :(!

  • ChuckRD says:

I managed to get tickets to attend two tapings for this show. If it is half as funny cut together as it was live in the studio, it is going to be awesome!

  • Kay says:

While i am happy that a new show is coming, what about all of the other guys? I thought Improv-a-ganza was wonderful and i was devastated when GSN took it of the air. But i don’t think it will be the same if they don’t have all of the guys like Ryan, Brad, Jeff, Chip, etc. All of them being together and feeding off each other is what made the previous shows so great, and if they only have 3 of the guys from the group, will it be as great? Nonetheless, im excited to see how this new show turns out.

  • Lexi says:

I’ll just be happy if Colin’s on there.
    (:

  • shay says:

When will it ne coming to acual Tv and will Ryan no be in it that sucks man.

  • Amber says:

In Whose Line Is It Anyway, ryan and colin were an improv duo. In Drew Carey’s Improv-a-ganza, they weren’t. They need to be able to be together to really hit the peak in hilarity. Let’s all hope Ryan gets over his fear of flying, because I don’t think the shows gonna make it without him

I am only implying that people are used to seeing wayne, colin and ryan, and drew, all being with each other, but if they aren’t that’s change, and people don’t like change. So I can’t wait to see the show aire.

  • Amber Alana says:

    Sorry, my phone glitched.

  • Autumn says:

I can’t wait! I wish improv-a-ganza was still on. I wish Ryan would be on this show, he’s so funny. I really want ryan on it ToT. Well, I’m
Just glad that there’s going to be Colin on it. Colin makes me laugh so much. Can’t wait to watch it!!!!!

  • Beverly says:

Loved “Whose Line” and am so excited a show similar is coming back on!!!! Good luck and can’t wait to see it

  • Kay says:

I just gets to me/ The camurshal for the show makes me very mad everytime I see it. I know it’s a Comady, and I really like comady’s. But I’m also have a disablite too. So when I hear the guy that’s doing what he thinks is the way that someone talks, and does that person. It just pussy me off. See alot of my friends and myself talk that way. We can’t help the way we talk, but others can. So I will not watch the show. I think people need to think before saying stuff. Sorry but it will anger people like me.

    Kay
